After watching the first Natan pup I have seen just in foundation work last Saturday....I bet you are right - whoever backed out LOST out on a great pup.
I hope John and Lowena stick with it. John has a great opportunity with a terrific first SchH pup to learn the ropes - and with a great trainer to boot. Doesn't get much better than that!

If I had the money, I would buy him in a heartbet. Unfotunately, that is about as much as my husband makes in just over a month, with overtime! lol!

Seems like a lot.
However, it's less than many big-screen TV sets, or a couple of years of cable TV, or a few years of cell phone service, or a set of fancy wheels for that over-sized pickup. It all depends on what's really important to you.
Looking at it another way, it's about $250/year for the dog.
I'm pretty certain, he is going to be a **really** nice puppy.

Like you said Charlie! To my way of thinking, it's all pretty relative. No matter what price you pay for a pup, that's miniscule compared to the lifetime investment.
The best analogy I've heard lately came from one of our training participants (every Saturday at http://www.JolietSchutzhund.com) His wife "gripes" about him spending all day every Saturday here, and the $$ he spends. He says.... "Most of my buddies are into golf. They spend a LOT more $$ than I do playing a round of golf every Saturday, and they don't end up with *someone as good to sleep with* (um..his dog) at the end of the day."
I'll never forget that one!!

Quality costs money: Solid bloodlines cost money. OFA's cost money. Clean breeding facilities cost money. Good food costs money, etc.
That little guy is beautiful. No doubt he'll soon have a new home.
