My son (Jeff) is a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He is currently deployed in the mountains of souther Afghanistan. In a phone call yesterday we were talking about my packages and he told me two of his best friends (Daniel Green and Ed Rosa) never get mail or packages. Jeff asked me to mention this to any of my friends who send troops packages.

I thought I would post this to the board. I know many like to support troops. This is an opportunity to possible adopt a solder and put a face to your support. I know both of these paratroopers and they are gentlemen and outstanding people.

I have created a web page with photos of Green and Rosa along with their APO address.

Ed, is there anything else that we could send in addition to the things you listed...magazines or anything that they miss from home?

Ed, when you say packages of tuna, are you saying to send those pouches so no can opener is needed? Or is it OK to send cans?

I just found out here
http://www.troopcarepackage.com/mail.html
that letters to Iraq require only postage from us to the APO pr FPO address.

QUOTE:When you send a letter to an APO or FPO address, the US Postal Service only transports that letter from where you've dropped it off, to the APO or FPO locations stateside. Once your letter reaches a stateside military installation, all mail handling is taken over by the US armed forces. This means that you do not have to pay postage from the US to Kuwait or Iraq, but you only have to pay postage for sending a letter from one place in the continental United States to another.END

Other helpful info there, too.

It's nice that we have names and faces to attach to letters and packages. \:\)

This is a good opportunity for us. What better way to support our troops?

Thanks!

Well, as revolting as may sound, it sure does sound like a protein boost.

Those pouches of tuna sound like a great plan because they open easily and don't have to be drained.

Ed,

Is it possible for Jeff to furnish us with some more names? I think there'd be more than enough interest here to expand our mailings to include a few more guys/girls.

Mike
