I've been looking into purchasing the Leerburg e-collar DVD. I'm just about ready to get my e-collar(getting one used for $100) soon and I wanted to get the DVD as well. I have the money for the e-collar, but $50 for the DVD is a little steep for me...I am running on babysitting money.

I checked on Ebay to see if they had the DVD I wanted, and although they do have a few of Ed's DVDs, they are not the e-collar one.

My question is, are we allowed to purchase these DVDs any place besides the Leerburg website? I'd hate to break any laws set with these DVDs. I was really looking into buying a used one, just so I could get a cheaper price. If I cannot buy from anyone but Ed, I perfectly understand.

Most of what you are going to see on e-bay is pirated.

I contacted Ed once because I saw on Ebay that someone selling a Leerburg DVD and had lifted his description as if they had written it, with no credit given. I wasn't sure how that played out copyright-wise. It made it sound like Ed was the one selling the DVD, not someone doing it secondhand.

He decided it wasn't worth the hassle for someone selling on Ebay, but he did say that it's people's right to resell on Ebay.

I'm sure he'd much prefer if people bought direct from him, of course, but I'm also sure that not everyone can afford the entire collection!

And anyway, it's not like it's going to be eating into his business all that much. I don't think many people part with them once they have them! ;\) I'd rather buy direct personally, because then I'm assured of quality.

Okay, well that's good.

It's been a big issue! I can't find any reputable person who is willing to sell this DVD! Besides Ed, of course. But I can't totally afford that, sadly.

Another problem with a used item is that there is no guarantee that the item will actually work!! One of my Leerburg videos did not play in my DVD player. I called Leerburg and explained to the girl taking the call my problem. She asked me if my DVD player is on the approved list of compatible units. I told her that it was and I was sent a replacement DVD immediately, with no furhter shipping charges and I was not even required to return the old one to prove that it didn't work! Try getting that kind of client satisfaction from E-Bay.

If you can find a used one be sure that it will paly before you pay.

A friend of mine had the same experience. Positive.

Emily, my advice would be to not use the e-collar until you've saved up enough for the DVD. I believe Ed's e-collar DVD is very important for someone first starting out with an e-collar. You could hurt your dog with an e-collar if you don't do it right. Ed's instructions are clear cut, simple to follow and would keep you from a negative start with an e-collar.

I think it's pretty important, especially for your dog.

Are customers of Ed allowed to sell the used real version of the DVDs on here?

Just asking? Or maybe for trade?

No selling of anything is allowed on the forum with PMing or emailing Ed Frawley first.

No offense at all meant to you, Matt, for asking. \:\) The answer is that the forum is a venue for training questions and answers, and not a for-sale board.

And I have to say that I know several people who have run into the bootleg problem on eBay. Of course, people can be selling something legit that they paid full price for and now want to sell, but I'd ask pointed questions first to determine authenticity. ;\)
