Ed,
The things you have said puts one big gulp in my throat because you have vented so brutally honest about the war. What you have done is a huge thing to open up with us and help us understand more. I've always supported our troops. I know it is hard for families to be a parted from their love ones, but it never hit me that hard to think that they spent endless hours and days to wonder if their love ones are ok and safe.
Whether your son will make home alive or not, you must remember to be proud of things he has sacriffied and done amazing things for his country. You have taught a young boy to be a good man. Your son became the man you made, to be passionate about his country, his family, his friends, and his freedom. Only fathers can teach that to their sons.

I have had several requests to send on what I have written in this thread to friends or news papers. It is absolutely fine with me is people do this and put my name and email address on it. I don't care.
I wish every person who goes to the polls to vote could read it before voting. This was not my story its the story of of every American families who has someone in the military. I am sure if you show it to the father- mother - brother sister wife or husband of a military member they will say - yep - thats our family or yep thats exactly what we went through.
I would like to thank everyone for the kind emails and posts.I know Jeff and his friends appreciate the thoughts.
Ed

Just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to all of those that serve or have served in the past. I was always told from a young age to appreciate the liberties we have and thank the soldiers that protect us for them. It's something that I'm trying to instill in my kids now. I also just wanted to throw this link out there http://www.woundedwarriors.org/index.htm They're a great organization and I see them at the memorial races here in NY all the time. There's nothing like cheering on someone who lost their leg in the service of our country crossing the finish line. Screw the politics and God bless the service men and women.
