This is our new pup Bear at 5 months. I think he is going to be a "BIG" boy.

Hello Tim,welcome. Love ear stage other than the fear of not standing. Is he going to be a pet or working dog of some sort? Enjoy the puppy as the time goes by to fast.

Thanks for all the great comments. Gotta love the ears. Bear is going to be a family pet/protector. I would love to get him into search and rescue work but being a fulltime Firefighter/Paramedic does not give me alot of time for training.

Hi Tim, Welcome to the forum! Love the ears. I work full-time also but manage to find time to train two search and rescue dogs. It is a deeply rewarding field. If you want Bear to be a family protector, most (some do) SAR organizations do not allow dogs that have been trained in aggression. My GSD has not been trained in any aggression and loves people, but I still feel very safe with her around (her and my little chihuahua who would happily rip off an intruder's toes). SAR can always use a good dog and handler team! \:\)

I do not want Bear to be formally trained for aggression, my hope for him is love towards people, and a great well rounded dog. However if the need arrives chomping a home intruder would be .....well ok.

I may have to look into SAR training in my area.

Thanks
Tim
