Hello all.

Looking at purchasing the Cool Bed III: http://www.leerburg.com/1176.htm

Was wondering if anyone who has one could give me some specifics on it...

*How long does it stay cool?

*How cool does it get?

And any other tidbits you might want to throw in.

Many thanks!

I just bought one of these for my 5 month old Akita. The heat lately has been soooo bad, and putting the thermostat at 60 isnt really an option im willing to entertain, but I needed to find something that would help her out, esp with her dense undercoat.

I must say I was kinda skeptical about it. Jeuno usually sits right on top of the ac vent covering the whole thing, but now she's completely in love with the cool bed 3. It works with the same premise as a water bed basically... ever slept on a water bed that didnt have its little heat coil on at least low? Its flipping cold! I've layed on it and yes it actually gets and stays pretty chilly. For me it was worth it. I didnt buy the covers that come with, since its just easier/cheaper for me to sew up something.

I have this bed (did not buy from Ed ... did not know about this site until this year), but I did not buy it for my dog. I took it to Thailand last summer where I stayed at one of those tent hotels. Thailand is REALLY hot in the summer and this thing is just awesome. To save space, I only got the small one to put under my upper body and head and it is fantastic. For me, as long as you change the cold water you put in it daily it will stay VERY cool. Also, if you want it to last even longer and even colder, toss a few of those freeze pads you use to treat injuries under the mattress, but make sure there is some sort of barrier (i.e., towel or something) between the ice packs and the mattress.
