I just got the Competition Heeling DVD, I have only watched the first few minutes of it and it is great so far. We kept turning it off to talk about each little step on it, so it will probably take forever to watch it all, because it is so good.

I agree. I have watch bits and pieces but haven't made it through yet, but happy with the results I have seen.

I have this video and I didn't like it. Too much compulsion for my taste. I think competition heeling can be taught motivationally.

I highly, highly, highly recommend this book: http://leerburg.com/925.htm

It is much better (imho) than the DVD, everything is taught motivationally and the book is very detailed. There is an in depth chapter on "Happy Heeling" and the book covers everything, from foundation work to what your very first training session will look like to introducing distractions and off leash work. No corrections or force needed and no stress on the dog.

I am very happy with this book and can't wait to get started with the foundation work.

I will have to check that book out. Thanks for the suggestion Angela. I have a book by Shelia Booth and its wonderful and a great read. It's purely positive training and lays everything our really well from basic's and beyond.
