My dog loves to be vacuumed, he'll stand in front of my vacuum head and wait to be groomed...
It seems to work very well when I combine it with the rake after. I get about 50% more hair out that way.
I'm thinking that the vacuum doesn't actually pull out all that undercoat, but rather loosens it, which is why the follow up with the rake works so good.
I'm wondering if anyone has used the pet vacuum attachments that they sell online, and if they're worth purchasing.

hi Lori,
Those attachments can be an early death for a vaccume unless you have a vac who can handle hair well. We use a rainbow for my allergies and it can handle hair. I cannot count how many vacs we replaced until we stumbled on this thing. I think a better item to have in the battle of the shed is a force dryer. It also does an admirable job of getting rid of dander.
You would not believe the shed cloud you can get out of a dog and how nice they are for post bath drying. I just suggest using them in an area where you can deal with the hair cloud. Our usual dry spot is at the end of my garage.

I sure wouldn't know about those vacuume attachments, as my GSD just wants to kill those damn machines  leih
Our big recent accomplishment was getting ours to stay in a down-stay while vacuuming. He wants to attack the vacuum so badly that he lays there positively twitching.

I actually have a really nice central vac system. I do have a force dryer but because he really likes the vacuum it would be easy to just add the attachment and give him a quick once-over.
Anything to decrease the hair balls all over the house......
So if anyone out there has actually used one of the doggie vac attachments I'd love to hear if they work well. I hate to waste money but it would be something I'd be interested in.

Good to hear that my boy is not the only one that treats the vacuum as if the only important thing in the universe is its destruction!
It sure does work well as a training tool though. Rock solid down-stays now!
