So I was reading a Women's Health magazine today and they had a small article about how to reduce our pets' carbon pawprints. Being a tree hugger at heart, I thought these were extra super cool

Poop bags made from recycled kites!

Glad I'm not the only one! It's the little things in life like recycled kite poop bags that make me happy ;\)

Those are super cute! Way better than the grocery sacks rubberbanded to the leash that I use now!

You can get them at natural foods stores, too (different brands) that are 100% recycled as well as biodegradable. There are very inexpensive ones, too, like 4 cents apiece (approx).

I'm just saying that we don't need to wait for an online order or even spend much money (although I love those!) to avoid using the eternally-plastic baggies. \:\)

I belive that these are actually poop bag 'carriers', not poop bags...
(but they are cute!)

OHHHHHHH!

Well, too bad, because I love the colors.

But I did manage a plug for the new dark green recycled (and biodegradable) poop bags, and they are cheap!

The store where I buy RMBs had two brands right there in the dog-stuff aisle, and both were cheap.

Ooooh. LB should carry this! They hardly weigh anything (not a heavy shipping item and minimal packaging).....

Ah, yes, they are carriers. I believe they come with recycled/biodegradable poop bags, but I would certainly get my refills elsewhere. I was just too excited about the recycled kite part I didn't think to make the connection that they were just carriers. Either way, super awesome I think. I really like how they velcro on too!

Interesting article Steve! I think my Corgi will fit just perfectly in my oven ;\)

It says the average GSD sized dog eats abou 95kg of cereals a year.. I wonder what the difference would be if everyone switched to raw or grain-free diets? My vegetarian background tells me that it takes more than twice the space to raise animals for food as it does grains. But those 95kg of grain can be going somewhere else like feeding the hungry, or making other biodegradable "plastics" like cups and bags and forks/spoons/sporks/knives, etc. Most of the grains in dog food is corn anyways (I think) and that's a great way to make biodegradable fake plastics that hold up just as well. I know I'm dreaming big here (okay, huge) but it sparks an interesting idea!

I like those compostable ones.
