I am providing this post to help new people to the web board understand where they can go on my web site to learn more about puppy training.

Our web site is over 4,500 pages, it has a library of training articles with over 300 articles and growing http://leerburg.com/articles.htm , and our web board has over 70,00 posts in our archives.

I have produced 3 excellent training videos specifically on puppy training.

1) Your Puppy 8 Weeks to 8 Months ( http://www.leerburg.com/120.htm ) covers housebreaking, crate training, feeding, medical needs, how to choose correct and safe toys for your puppy, as well as sections on puppies and children and problem solving.

2) How to Raise a Working Puppy ( http://www.leerburg.com/117.htm ) There is a big difference between how to raise a working puppy and raising a family pet. Simple changes on how the pup is brought up and handled can make a big difference in the dog’s self confidence and future career.

3) Basic Dog Obedience ( http://www.leerburg.com/302.htm ) is a 4 hour long DVD. It has all the basic commands (sit, come, stay, heel, and go to your place). There is also a large section titled “Living With Your Dog.”

I have written the following training articles and provide their links to help people navigate to find the information they need to help with their puppy.

My website ( www.leerburg.com ) also has several articles and Q&A sections to help you train your dog and produce a happy, healthy, safe and obedient companion.

The article page can be found at ( http://www.leerburg.com/articles.htm )
Some articles include:

Preventing Dog Bites in Children ( http://www.leerburg.com/kidbites.htm )

Introducing Dogs and Babies ( http://www.leerburg.com/dogs-babies.htm )

Groundwork, the Steps to Becoming Pack Leader ( http://www.leerburg.com/groundwork.htm)

Learning to Train with Markers ( http://www.leerburg.com/markers.htm )

How to Housetrain Your Puppy ( http://www.leerburg.com/housebrk.htm )

Teaching Your Puppy the Word "NO" ( http://www.leerburg.com/no-art.htm )

The Questions and Answers page can be found at ( http://www.leerburg.com/qa.htm )
Some categories include:

Im so glad I found you and your web site,Its amazing how much people dont know about dogs (me included) even tho I have 2 rescued dogs here on the farm, you never know they are around so I thought hey, why not a puppy and a pure bred GSD,Im doing good most of the time, except never got your puppy video, cause kane was 5 months atthe time of my dicovery of you and i thoght i was passed the problems(he is crate, house trained, will go to his run when asked can sit, down stay come ) he is dfinitely in the learning stage, but anyway, my question, do I need to tether him to me at all times? I know outside is becoming a problem because any time there are different people around, he reverts back to barking and pinning the cats, he doent bother the older dog, but the younger spayed female he is right on her bugging and bighting, and she just takes it and i cant get any thing done with him, Ive tried putting her in the run, but her barking and carrying on are more distracting than having her of leash and sent away... I coonfess with her i dont think i did the pack structure thing correctly with her and im trying to fix my mistakes with her at the same time train Kane(the other old dog listens and will do anything i say ..... help!!!

Shauna, go to 'Puppy Training' and start a new topic. (gray tab next to 'Topic Options')
Your post is a bit rambling!
It sounds like there is too much distraction for your puppy when you are outside. Distractions need to be added slowly, when you are sure the puppy knows what you are asking him to do. Can you take him to a different area to work with him, without your other dogs present?
The other thing that will help is to have a cotton long line on him when training outside. That way, you have much more control if he decides to chase the cat, etc. Leerburg sells a good quality one that is very reasonably priced...
Welcome and start a new topic instead of replying to this one!
