I got my first dog,an american staff, female.I had wanted a dog for such a long time.
She was so cute and playful but i noticed early that something was wrong.
She would run around aoutside, but inside she laied under the table, didt want to do anything,or she sat with head hanging down,or starring up in the ceiling.
She began having skin problems. And later she began to limp.
She had hip dysplasia and had water allergy.
I had her put down. She became only 2 years and 3 months..
I got another dog,a female boerboel. The breeder sounded weird, but in better judgement i took the puppy.
She was a one mans dog from start, nobody else could pet her or lift her off the ground. She growled, and hid when guests arrived. She hated otner dogs, she did not trust people.
I worked with the dog every day.And she seemed to turn around.I thought:good,my training is paying off.
Unfortunatley the dog got so much pain she did not care anymore. She had severe hip dysplasia.
She started limping, her hunting instinct disappeared. Her shine in the eyes disappeared. She could no longer walk long walks and had to stay home while i took the amstaff out for long walks.
She loved me above anything else, all she asked was to be beside me,now she could not.
I thought about it for half a year, then i took the descision to have her put to sleep. She died in my arms in the saftey of my home.
I love her i miss her,i will never forget her.
Because i had lost two dogs too soon,i decided that the next dog would be an adult, with good hips.
I got the boerboel Sabrina at 4 years old.She is a terrific dog and i still have her.
I do not think i would dare get another puppy,i think i always will get an older dog that i know is healthy.
