Connie, you're awesome with your tireless pointers to new people.
I'm one of those...James, listen up! Here you have an expert
gently giving you pointers to make your life easier and happier.

There are many awesome people on this board, thankfully to me!

I felt the need in this thread to point out Connie. She
has helped me over and over again with her posts. Thank you
Connie! \:\)

You are a MAJOR contributor, from my perspective. It seems
Leerburg has the corner on the market for good advice, indeed!
I can't disagree there. \:D

Thanks, Connie. \:\)

Back on topic! I just remembered what I did with the platz that
worked nicely. Aside from getting your marking/rewarding in line,
you can try backtieing him. Then you can lure to the platz
just outside of his reach--hopefully you will get an
enthusiastic down. I keep two different commands for going
down, a platz that I always use for an enthusiasm situation,
and a down for everyday house use. It took about two tries
with the backtieing for my pup to learn that platz was
awesome. (Each try equalling maybe 4 or so repetitions.)

'Lay down' is a little less enthusiastic becauase
I think the command is watered down by the situations in
which it is given.
