Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial:
April 5, 2008 Ed! I think you missed the boat on this one. Jill (Nova vom Leerburg) is a super dog. A little small but fast as a rabbit. She thinks she's a border collie and acts like one, jumps like a deer and is a super learner. This dog is great! Joe Jasinski Nova Vom Leerburg
2/19/2007 I thought I would send you some pics of Sheba. I hope they're good enough to make it on the site somewhere. If you ask me, who cares about Ed and his dogs. When you go to Leerburg.com the main pic should be of her :) She's 10 1/2 months at the time of the pics. Thanks! --Flu
HI Ed, Wanted to let you know that Uschi (Ultra Vom Leerburg) earned her IPOI,
this weekend under DVG Judge Sandi Purdy. Good for
a first time handler, looking forward to more trials with her. We Best Regards, Ed's Comments When I get emails like this it always makes my day. This one came in on a Sunday afternoon that I had been sitting in my whelping room for 7 hours whelping a litter of puppies. Emails like this make it all worth while. Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: August 21, 2006 Hi Cindy and Ed, I wanted to send you an update on Cajun (Venor Vom Leerburg - BeanXRonan). He is almost 10 months old and just gorgeous - 2 photos attached to email. I honestly could not have asked for a better dog. He is a wonderful family dog and an outstanding working companion. His drive, focus and work ethic are everything I was looking for in a SAR dog. I started SAR training with him in the spring on basic lost victim searches and he did great. High drive, enthusiasm and tons of nature ability. Unfortunately his training was put on hold this summer while I went through a divorce. I worked him mostly on basic obedience and some show handling. I entered him in two show matches and he even placed in group both times. Everyone just loves him and remarks on his beautiful color and sound conformation. Over the last several months he has really grown into his personality. He is very bonded to me and responsive to my every move. He is protective of me but still friendly, outgoing and well mannered. He is quick to make sound judgements of situations and people. He has been well socialized and is good with kids and other dogs. He is pleasant to take anywhere. As things have settled down in the last few weeks, I have started SAR training back up. With several months of maturity added to his base knowledge, he has really started to accelerate. And this past weekend he was put through his first mock evidence track and did outstanding. He alerted on more evidence than even some of the experienced dogs. He was quick to key in on the scent and thorough in his search. He shows great potential as a cadaver dog and I plan on attending classes this spring for training and certification. Cajun is such a joy to live with - loving and gracious with my children, fair and tolerant with the other dogs, and loyal and devoted to me. I look forward to many years together. Thank you for helping find just the dog I was looking for. Best regards, Cheryl Colligan
Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: March 20, 2005 Received a Spy/Aiko male ~ DOB 11-14-03
Hello, Ed: I just love this dog. His call name is Lobo, and he is everything and more than you said he would be. I am so glad you advised me not to neuter him, because I have never known a more gentle dog. His standard greeting is a lick with his long, pink tongue, and yet he is fully capable of asserting himself. You also have a picture of Lobo on Aiko's page, but it identifies him as an Aiko pup. The day I took that picture is the day I first understood what you meant by a genetic full mouth. As you can see, he still chews that way. Sorry for the graphic picture of him chewing a chicken leg. I raise his food here, and this was a chicken I had just slaughtered. It was a sure way to get him to stand still so I could get a good shot of his head--which is magnificent. People have asked if he was a purebred simply because his head is so large. I just love the way he learns. I have a female who is quite
bright but is very high energy and not nearly as dependable. Once Lobo
learns something,
he remembers the steps and the order of the steps, even as I increase
the distraction. He is so eager to learn and please, so he is a joy to
train. The only difficulty I have ever had is in convincing Thank you so much for a quality breeding program. I was sorry to see Aiko off the stud list because he obviously produces spectacular offspring. If you want more pictures as he fills out, let me know. Sincerely, Carol Drummond
Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: January 15, 2005 Received an Anja/Xando female ~ DOB 3-23-04 Cindy/Ed, I wanted to update you on Half-pint. You sold her to us at half price because she didn’t have the pronounced drive according to your standards. I have to tell you that this low drive dog is 10x the dog of other “working line” GS dogs we’ve encountered. Her energy level, play drive, and food drive far exceeds the other dogs at training class. She loves the ball but she is crazy for her “flying squirrel”. She never tires of playing keep-away and fetch. Her athletic ability is the most impressive. She took to the agility course like a pro. She never hesitates and gracefully glides over the highest jumps. She has loads of confidence. She is now in adolescence and is a true knucklehead. She requires a firm correction. It took me a while (like most beginners I suspect) to find the appropriate level of correction for her. It seemed that most of the time she looked at me as if to say “is that the best you got?” And a lot of time the more I correct the more worked up she gets. We will never buy from anyone but Leerburg. You could have easily sold us this dog at full price and we (and most everyone else) would not have been disappointed. It speaks volumes to your integrity that you discounted this puppy. Thanks again for a great puppy and we look forward in a couple of years to purchasing a full drive puppy. Ed, Cindy, and Leerburg Staff: My wife and I received a Spy/Aiko male pup (call name Neo) from your kennels on 8-26-2004. When we arrived at the airport to pick him up, he appeared very alert and unaffected by the flight. I've ordered several training videos from you and Neo is showing great promise. He has great prey drive, deep grips, and excellent nerves. For example, one of our neighbors fired his shotgun (we live outside the city limits) and it scared the heck out of me because I wasn't expecting it. Anyhow, as he fired his gun I was working with Neo on a puppy tug. To my surprise, Neo didn't flinch at all. Actually, Neo looked in the direction where the shot originated with curiosity. Neo is a great testament to your breeding program. My wife and I thank you very much for a great puppy. Our plans is to title him in schutzhund and we'll keep you posted. We've already visited a schutzhund club and we plan to join. Also, we would love to attend one of your seminars in the future with Bernard Flinks. Lastly, we would like to thank your staff for their help and hospitality. Best regards, Niko and Karen Ryu Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: October 11, 2004 Received a Loki/Xando female ~ DOB 7-16-04 Ed & Cindy, Puppy's plane arrived right on time. However, cargo transport people 'Lost' the dog for almost 3 hrs. By 5:15 pm (plane was on the ground at 1:58 pm) I was frantic and no one seemed to care that this poor dog was not located after 3 hrs. I demanded to talk to a supervisor by now. He personally went looking along with 2 other supervisors. At 5:30 pm she was found in a " break area room." Why an animal would be put in a room where employees go to drink coffee is beyond me. For our "distress & inconvenience" they charged us 1/2 the fare. Anyway, she arrived 10 min. later at the cargo bldg. She came barreling out of her crate, wagging her tail, and giving lots of kisses. Not a peep on the way home, which took another 2 hrs. because of the awful traffic at that time of day. She ate a small meal and threw it up shortly. Her 1st nite was absolutely wonderful. Not a peep all nite. She is eating Amish chicken & beef, along with Eagle Holistic dry. Doing super. Stool is firm and she already pees and poops in same area. We have decided to call her 'Jill ' and she knows her name already. We are going to the Vet today for a check up and stool exam. I was not really happy with her color from the pictures, but now that I see her, I am totally in love with it. Her looks are stunning and unusual and all of my doggie friends think the same. Jill is the happiest puppy we have ever owned, with perhaps the exception of my Basset which I got at 12 weeks and she is now 10 yrs old. We are extremely pleased with this breeding and just know that she is the perfect dog for us. Thanks again for everything. We will keep you posted on her progress, and all her winnings in the obedience ring in the years to come. Joe & Lucille Jasinski Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: September 28, 2004 Received a Loki/Xando female ~ DOB 7-16-04 Hey Everyone, Just wanted to write you guys an email thanking you for everything (mostly for putting up with me). I have decided to name the pup Panda. Everyone that has seen her is really impressed with how outgoing she is, even when large dogs are around and barking she doesn't flinch. She is adapting super well and if today goes without glitches it will 2 days in a row that she is accident free! Either I am the greatest dog trainer in the world or your pups are really smart (probably the latter! hahaha!). Ed, I wanted to let you know how the puppy that I got from you is doing. When I went to pick her up at the airport she came out of the crate very friendly, and acted like she had already knew me! Her temperament is excellent as well as her prey drive. She is a fast learner and catches on to new commands very well. She is so fun to work with. I also wanted to let you know that your office employee's were helpful and professional, a joy to work with. Sincerely, Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: September 14, 2004 Received a China/Xando female puppy ~ DOB 6-30-04 Dear Ed, On Friday September 10, I picked up "Jolie" at the Bluegrass airport in Lexington, Kentucky. I must tell you I had reservations regarding this puppy's ability to fit into our unique and busy family; we have triplet girls age 2 plus two other children, two horses, other dogs, cats, and a goat. We are busy also at work because I am a general surgeon and my wife, Angel, is a surgical assistant but after spending the last few days with Jolie, I can say without any reservation that she is the perfect dog for us. She is outgoing, full of energy, and has lots of prey drive on her prey toys but she is gentle and playful with our small girls. For the first time, every one in our family is happy with our new puppy. You and cindy did an excellent job choosing our dog. Thanks again for a wonderful puppy and I will keep you posted regarding her progress. Thanks, Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: September 11, 2004 Received a China/Xando female puppy ~ DOB 6-30-04 Ed, Cindy and Caya, We just wanted to let you know that our pup (China/Xando sable female D04AWM5) "Sophie" arrived safely and in very good spirits here in NY. She has had good stools and has been eating well. She was a bit vocal in her crate last night, but seemed to settle in through the course of the night. She is an exceptionally beautiful dog, keenly alert and has a very regal stature. She seems well at ease in her new environment and is getting very comfortable with us all. Thanks Ed and Cindy for choosing such a fine pup for our new family member. We will send along a few photos that we take this weekend. Thanks also for the informative website, video training materials and wonderful customer service and responsiveness that Caya, Cindy and Stephanie provided all through this process -- it has been a very professional and pleasant experience for us. Ed, Just wanted to let you know that the male puppy I received is doing great. We've decided to call him Xane. My compliments to your breeding program. Xane seems to have natural calm deep grips and a good solid temperament. I'm impressed with how stable he seems and how quickly he seems to pick up things. I've raised 3 German Shepherds and a Belgian Malinois in the past and none of them had his solid temperament or have learned new things as quickly or as easily as he has at his age. He seems to take new situations in stride and never seems intimidated. In addition, crate training him has been the easiest I've experienced. We've started bite, tracking and narcotics detection imprinting with him and he seems to have a natural focus on those tasks that I have not seen in a dog his age. He loves to play tug games and he is focused and intent. I have a question along the lines of narcotics detection. Xane's favorite prey item seems to be the common stick. What i've been doing is placing several sticks in a zip-loc baggie along with pseudo-cocaine powder and then taking them out of the bag to play with. Is this the best way to do this, or do you suggest a different way. Again, thanks for the great breeding program. I think Xane's going to be a super dog. Attached is a photo I took of Xane in front of my police car. I'll send more emails in the future to let you know how Xane's coming along and I'll try to attach a picture to each to let you know how he's doing. Thanks again, Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: August 14, 2004 Received an Ana/Xando male puppy ~ DOB 6-7-04 Cindy and Ed, Jeff and I wanted to thank you for your hospitality last weekend. We really enjoyed watching the handlers and their dogs. Everyone was so nice, it would be wonderful if Jeff and I could find a similar group here in Memphis. It seems as if the training sessions are great for the dogs as well as the handlers. There are lots of discussions and exchanges of ideas on training which are quite beneficial. Our new puppy, call name Mika, is doing wonderful. Our trip back was quite uneventful except for stopping often for him to use the bathroom. He did not cry more than a couple of minutes when we put him in the crate the first couple of times and then after that, the crate was home and he did not cry at all. Thanks for your time Cindy, Leerburg Puppy Customer Testimonial: July 25, 2005 Hello! We want to say THANK YOU for the wonderful 13 1/2 years we had with a dog we purchased from you in 1992. Rosa Vom Leerburg was born on November 8, 1991 and we picked her up in January, 1992. We called her Tasha. Friday, July 16th, we had to take her to the vet and say our final good-byes. It was very hard, but the right thing to do. We had 13 1/2 wonderful years with her, but it was time. Her legs were giving out and she had a lot of trouble getting up and standing. She slipped on the wet grass when she was a puppy and hurt her hip so it was not unusual that she had arthritis in her hip when she got old. We felt blessed that we had her so long since that is a very old age for a large dog. We cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed having her as part of our family. She was absolutely wonderful. Well behaved and very loving. We took her to training at the German Shepherd Club of Wisconsin and she quickly progressed into the top training category which involved jumping and special tricks. We were only interested in the behavioral training so did not continue. Tasha had a wonderful life. She had the run of the house and could sleep anywhere where she chose. She particularly liked the couch which was in front of the window so she could open her eyes and look out at any time. We loved her very much. Our children always teased us that she was our "favorite." Maybe because she never complained and was just happy to be around us and loved us unconditionally. She never asked for the car, money or complained about what was for dinner. I know they say "people food" is not good for a dog, but she certainly did wonderfully on it. I think the difference is that she never ate anything we would not eat. She did not get the 'scraps' no one wanted. If we would not eat it ourselves, she did not get it. She had great manners and knew not to beg and waited until she was called. Believe it or not, she would sit and eat from a fork if we didn't put it in her bowl. She loved chicken and turkey breast and ate a lot of carrots. We always cooked an extra chicken breast for Tasha for dinner if that is what we were eating. I'm sure you don't remember, but I didn't want a german shephard because I thought they were mean dogs. Tasha was the most wonderful pet we could have had and she quickly became part of our family. You were certainly right when you said it all depended on how they are raised and trained. You were ready to send her to Florida to be a guard dog, but decided she had the personality we needed and asked if we wanted to pick her up. I cannnot begin to THANK YOU for making that decision. She certainly would not have had such a luxurious life as a guard dog and we would not have had 13 1/2 fantastic years with her. We miss her terribly and will always have a special place in our hearts for her. If we decide to get another dog, we will certainly come to Leerburg kennels again. Sincerely, Check out many more of our |
