Using Food Rewards to Train Your Dog

Using Food Rewards to Train Your Dog

This is a video that was produced a few years ago, but we felt that it is something that every dog owner should watch.

This 30 minute video talks about using food rewards for dog training. I go into detail about how to vary the food rewards for different dogs and different exercises. We train with food and we recommend this to everyone.

Ask your training question

Question: How do I get my high food drive GSD puppy to except food reward more gently?

How do I get my high food drive GSD puppy to except food reward more gently?

Cindy's Response:

This is covered in The Power of Training Dogs with Food. Michael demonstrates how to properly hold and deliver the food.  While this may not change the way your puppy tries to take the food, it will prevent you from having your fingers bitten.

You may want to browse our Video on Demand section too, there are numerous video clips about training with food.

On Leerburg's 2-Handled 6 ft Leather Leash

Our GO TO LEASH!
This product is elegant, durable, and unbelievably supple once it breaks in. We use the 2 handled 6 ft x 3/4 in leash every day for the past year plus on our now 1.5 year old 100 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback. It survived his teenage years of chewing and trying to play tug. While there are some scratches to it, it is not noticeable. In having a large dominant male dog, leash control is important. The double handle is great when in public spaces and I want him super close to me (no everyone pays attention to what their dog is doing in dog friendly spaces). We used the puppy leash till he was about 6 months, and then shifted to the 1/2 inch. I have not seen any wear on the rivets, stitching, or snap. VERY pleased with this product. Great quality + value for the price. I have not seen any leash that compares to it.
