Question from a Leerburg Customer on Chewing on the Item During Tug

Question from a Leerburg Customer
on Chewing on the Item During Tug

Question from Edmund: When we play tug with a dog and they chew the item or not have a full, hard bite, does this problem transition into bite work with a helper later or does it not have any relation at all?

Customer Comments
On the 2012 Catalog

Hi Cindy,

I am writing to thank you for putting my three poodles (Sky, Lego and Blue in their rickety canoe) on the front cover of your 2012 catalogue. It is a wonderful sight. :)

I have enjoyed my prize (the marker training video) and the videos I bought at the same time. They are very clear and well-done.

My training friends and I really enjoy your various video clips and newsletters. I do believe that you folks are on a multi-branched mission to educate the world about dogs – living with dogs, raising dogs, training dogs, helping dogs and we sure do appreciate it.

All the best,
Teresa

Featured Question & Answer

Question: I bred my female Chihuahua and then after I brought her home the neighbor’s dog bred her. Do I need to worry about this?

I have a question, I had set up a plan to breed my dog with another Chihuahua male her size. I brought him to our home and they tied up at least 4 times I know of. I brought him home yesterday and this morning I let her out to go potty and one of our neighbors dogs tied up with her. My question is with me breeding her a day or two before even though the neighbors dog got a hold of her she should already be pregnant from the male Chihuahua so do I have to worry about this little mistake after the fact?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me out with this question.

Thank you,
Lisa

Cindy's Response:

It’s very possible your dog is pregnant from BOTH male dogs. Females can be impregnated from a number of different males which is why we always recommend keeping a female in heat confined through her whole cycle (even if she was bred).

You’ll have to do DNA on the puppies after they are born to confirm who the father of each puppy is if you wish to register the litter.

If your female is AKC registered I would recommend looking up the AKCs information on dual sired litters.

Good luck.
