Ed/Cindy,
I just wanted to give you a quick update on the pup! I think you have
talked to Beth, but I have been fortunate enough to find Joliet Schutzhund, with
a quality trainer in Dave Blank. It was pretty cool realizing that as I watched the Flinks drive and focus DVD that my trainer (Dave) and my dogs
grandfather (Itor) were in the video! I have included some pictures of foundation work we have started with her. She has shown promising drive
so far (surprise, surprise) and is progressing nicely. She is turning out
to be exactly as advertised, a pup that is confident and outgoing in all situations. The very first day out at the club she was relaxed around the people, and went right after the prey item immediately with everything
she had. She has a firm deep grip, and loves the work so far. What is most
promising, is her overall temperament in the home. She is an extremely affectionate and loving dog. Right now, she is a 45 pound lap dog, that
has been gentle and well mannered around children of all ages, and excellent
in group settings. Overall, she is what a GSD should be, an excellent family
dog with the ability to work in whatever I choose to work her in. Needless to say we are very pleased with her. Not to mention that she is a major conversation starter with anyone in the sport, or that know GSD's at all.
We will continue to shoot you a few pictures and updates as time goes on.
Also, we saw Kenyata and his pup Sage (a Natan/Snickers female pup) out at the club as well, and it looks like he intends to work her there as well. You can see some pictures of her on the main page of www.jolietschutzhund.com if you like.
