Do you think adding it to kibble is a bad idea? Also, I have three Great Danes; wouldn’t it get quite costly to do the meat add ins?

Full Question:
Its hard to add a feeding schedule when I work away from home. Do you think adding it to kibble is a bad idea? I don?t have an reservations about feeding the Honest Kitchen with additional meat. However, what meats would you add that would be easy? Also, I have three Great Danes; wouldn?t it get quite costly to do the meat add ins?

Thanks,
Amy

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
Personally, I feel that Honest Kitchen with raw meat added is a far superior diet to kibble with HK added. Any meats will do. I buy what’s on sale. The staple of our dogs’ diets here are chicken leg quarters, cheap fatty burger, turkey, canned fish (mackerel or salmon) and venison (Ed hunts)

Cost is relative. I’d rather spend a bit more to feed my dogs appropriately and skip the vet bills then feed something cheaper (and not as healthy for my dogs) and deal with the repercussions later on.

I feel very strongly about the nutrition we choose for our dogs and it’s come from years of dealing with issues and finally figuring out that what we put in their bodies (medications, vaccines and food) can either enhance their lives or actually shorten it and reduce the quality of their years here.

We also have a great section on feeding dogs, I think you’ll find a lot of helpful information there.

User Response:
I guess I’ve always been a little overwhelmed by the raw. How much raw would I add to the HK?

If you go to the link I sent and spend some time reading you will find a lot of good information.

Here is a Q&A section specific to Honest Kitchen.

I would also recommend going to the Honest Kitchen web page and reading all the information on how to feed it, adding raw extras is covered there.
