What’s the best way to keep a dog from jumping up on you?

Full Question:
Hello Cindy,

Will make this short and sweet as requested. I rescued a 1 1/2 year old female blue pitbull from being put to sleep. Sweetest dog I have ever had. She responds well to training as she loves to please. I used to train and show dogs but have forgotten how to stop her from jumping on people. The old methods are no longer used and I think they used to suggest putting your knee in the dogs chest when they jump up to greet somebody. Any suggestions??

Use a leash to block her from jumping and train her to do something acceptable like sit or down instead. Become a student of marker training.
