Dutch Scent ID Program

The first picture shows the stainless steel funnels that the dog puts his head in to smell the scent that has been collected for the lineup. All of the air that the dog smells in these funnels comes through the gauze pads which contain human scent. Notice the numbers above each funnel. The tennis ball is dropped through a hole behind these numbers when the dog makes a correct identification.

The second picture shows the back of the wall, behind the stainless steel funnels. The system is designed to blow purified air (at 10 water column inches of pressure) through the gauze pad that has been placed in the back of the funnel. The system is designed so that the only air the dog can breath when his head is in the funnel comes through the gauze pad with the scent on it.
