This is a handler training video, not a dog training video. It's a video that explains how we raise and socialize our puppies. If you are looking for a video on how to train a working puppy - this is not the video for you. There is a difference between how we raise a working puppy vs. how pet owners raise their dogs. Working puppies are expected to look at their world through different eyes than a family pet. This DVD on puppy training shows owners how to raise a working puppy.

This tracking dog DVD was filmed over a 3 year period in Germany & America back in the 1990’s. It is one of the most comprehensive studies ever done on sport tracking (foot step tracking). This video only uses motivational methods to teach a dog to track. While we discuss the difference between motivational tracking and forced tracking, we do not teach any force in this video.

This video was filmed in Alberta, Canada at the police dog training center for the RCMP. The RCMP instructors are the best tracking dog instructors in the world. The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) catch 45% to 50% of all the people they track (this includes suburban and urban tracking). If a suspect runs in the country, they catch 95% of them. If you are a K-9 officer who trains his service dog with food & a ball you know that you only catch 3% or 4% of the people you track.

This video was done with the RCMP in Canada. In it we train a dog to track in a suburban and urban environment. In Level 1 Tracking (Video 205) we taught the dog to track in the country. The reason all police dogs must first learn to track in the country is because the country is relatively distraction free. We actually teach the dog to track in the country and then use a large part of that work to train in Level II & III teaching the dog to deal with the distractions of the city.

The hardest part about training a police tracking dog is finding track layers. Every time you ask a new person to lay tracks you have to go through the same ritual. You explain all of the basics and all of the terminology for what needs to be done. This video is designed to train your track layer. We cover how to walk a straight leg, double laying tracks, kicking corners, marking high to low vegetation, marking road crossings, marking fence crossings, and where to lay articles, along with much much more.

This video was filmed at the Dutch Federal police dog Schools in Nunspeet and Rotterdam Holland. It deals with hard surface tracking (HST). In this video, you are going be able to see what can be accomplished with the right dog and the right training. The instructors in these two schools are some of the best trainers in the world at hard surface tracking.

Tracking, of all dog sports, is the most mysterious to trainers while, seemingly the most natural to working dogs. This tracking line is made of synthetic material that looks and feels exactly like leather. This 10 meter tracking line can get wet and is great for training. Our Amish maker hasn’t made leather reins in 3 years because he uses this material instead when making bridles and reins for his customers. The tracking line is ½ ” wide by 1/8” thick. It is 1/3 lighter than leather lines, very soft and very pliable.

We offer the best tracking line I have seen on the market. It is a 3/8" round x 10 meter (33 foot) tracking line. The snap has been tied, and sewn in place. This line is a soft flexible line, made from Bevis material, that is very easy on the hands, yet extremely strong (you can pull a car out of the ditch with it). The line retains its flexibility after getting wet. This is a very important feature of any tracking line.

This is a 1-inch wide flat tracking line available in 15-foot or 30-foot length. The nylon tracking line are made by the same Amish man who makes our leather leashes.

This Heavy Duty Cotton Tracking Line is 33 feet (10 meters) long. This line is regulation length so it can be used for Schutzhund work. The Heavy Cotton Tracking Line weighs 25 oz. The bottcher harness was first used back in the 1920's and 1930's. I first saw it mentioned in Konrad Most's book on training service dogs which was written in that time period. This is a very effective harness to use to train dogs to keep their nose down on the ground. The loop of the harness goes around the dogs haunches, with the lower line runs under the belly, and is clipped to the collar on the neck. The concept of the bottcher system is that a tracking line attached under the belly of the dog and as the dog pulls, the harness actually pulls the dogs head to the ground.
