Xanta is a black sable daughter of my stud dog Otis. She is a medium sized bitch with excellent pigment. Xanta lives as a foster dog with my office managers son and daughter-in-law. They have very small children and Xanta is a perfect house dog. This is a very very hard bitch. She requires a firm hand and can handle a solid correction without going down in drive. She has the temperament of a male.

Xanta has an outstanding pedigree. Her mother is a Natan daughter. Natan was probably the best dog I have ever owned. He not only was Sch 3 FH (with 100 pts) he also worked with my on the sheriff's department.

Xanta's father is my stud dog Otis. This is where a she gets her hardness. Puppies from this bitch will be excellent working dogs. People who are in the sport, especially people who are new to the sport need a dog that can deal with handler errors. A hard dog can recover quickly from handler errors and new handler make handler errors.

The female pup in this e-mail is out of Xantas littemate and Giddeons littermate. So geneticallly they are the same dogs.

Ed, I have a female I received from William Blondin from Houston, TX. She is
out of one of your Hanna-Otis pups, Qantana, by Grappo. I see on your site
that you are doing an almost identical breeding with a Hanna-Otis daughter
and with Gideon. Let me 1st say that I have 3 working German Shepherds - all
male, 2 titled by myself; this is my 1st girl. I have one VERY hard male and
let me tell you, this Grappo pup almost puts him to shame! She is the most
EXTREME bitch I have ever seen in my entire life! She is linebred 3-4
on Mink, and she looks and ACTS like a friggin female carbon copy of him. I
am a woman - she is a female but she is so hard that she in fact would be
better off as a man's dog. She is now 9mos old and on the sleeve for over a
month, and she hits like a mal. I am putting her up for awhile b/c I don’t
want to screw her up, but she has SO much potential! For the time being I am
only working with her on motivational food and toy oriented obedience and
tracking. She has the potential to be one of the few top cometition bitch's
out there. Look for her name in the Future - Adder vom Odinhaus aka Minka.
My only complaint with her is that she has extreme dog aggression problems,
and somewhat low pack drive. Everytime I clean her feet off when its muddy
she bites me - and when I pry her mouth off of me she growls! She at this
point is doing this as a game, but I know in the future this can be a problem
as she right now is only 8mos. Ask Bill about her b/c he tested her a couple
of months ago at his house and this should give you some idea (possibley,
though we are of course talking about genetics!) of what you litter may be
like. My only advise is be careful about putting these pups into pet homes
b/c my pup is only, and i repeat only suitable for sport or work - no pet

Hi Ed,

I see where you bred Xanta. I read the testimonial attached to Xanta's 'bio' sometime ago. While I agree with some of the writers comments, I have been wanted to write you regarding a comment that owner made about these dogs not being suitable for a "pet". I couldn't disagree more, perhaps it's not genetics but the enviroment that this animal is exposed to?

I own Xila, Xanta's sister. She is a once in a lifetime dog. She loves people but she also knows when she needs to intimidate people to protect me. She loves kids and knows how to be gentle, it's amazing to see her posture change around children.

She's also one of those dogs that I can take anywhere. From climbing 14000 foot mountains to playing ball in the park; she's awesome! Almost every walk we go on someone stops to ask about her including the local police K-9 cops who live in neighborhood.

She's probably the best dog I will ever own. I'm very tempted to get a Xanta pup. Kudos to your breeding program.
