Argus is one of the few imports I would consider breeding in this country. There are very few dogs that have the fight drive that Otis has, Argus happens to be one of them. I saw him shortly after he was imported a couple of years ago and immediatly impressed with the dog. He has intense prey drive and is a dog that has such extreme drives that he would probably make a better breeding dog than a competition dog. You will find experienced breeders refer to dogs they like to breed with that saying "THIS IS A DOG FOR BREEDING NOT FOR SPORT." Over th years I have come to agree with this. The dogs that are out on the edge are the ones that make better breeder stud dogs than sport dogs.
Argus is a black sable. His full littermate is owned by Hans Rudenau in Germany. Hans is the head Schutzhund judge for the SV. Han's dog was the most bred working dog in Germany last year with over 80 breedings. In my opinion, Hans is one of a handful of judges that really understand drives and temperament in working dogs. He knows fight drive when he sees it and he understands that if we are to maintain working bloodlines we need to breed dogs like this.
Argus's father is one of the best Fero sons. While Fero was a good dog, he needed to be bred properly. Like all stud dogs, not everything he produced turned out great. Troll and his brother Timmy we 2 of the best. Both were competitors in the bundessieger. Troll was the better opf the two dogs and was also know to be a very good hip improver.
Argus lives in New Mexico and is owned by Scott Swartz. He has a Companion "B" and has been shown for schutzhund one. He had a bit of a problem in the one - during the courage test he took the judge. The dog will be shown again and hopefully will get at least a Sch 1.
