Faith is a very good looking sable bitch. Her hips have been pre-limed and are very very nice. Faith is linebred 3-4 Grief. Faiths pedigree is a combination of some of the best east and west German bloodlines. We have put Faith in a couple of foster homes and have been forced to take her back because she is a little too protective. She bonds very tightly and is very protective of those she likes.

Dear Ed,

We want to thank you for our wonder dog "Peko" (Verro Von Leerburg). He is a Faith and Ron pup. He is now 2 1/2 years old and such a GREAT dog. His devotion and personality are wonderful. He loves kids, cats and his best friend Indy, our 10 year old Female Shepard.

The Indiana State Fair is in progress now, and yesterday I took my mother and Erik to the fair.

Thought you'd like to know that a woman came up to me and asked me if my dog was imported; I told her no, but both of his parents were. After some conversation she asked me where I got him. I said a kennel in WI, Leerburg, and her face lit up, and she shook my hand, and said that I am very fortunate to have a dog from "one of the finest GSD breeders in the USA."

Her husband (I forgot her name, unfortunately) is a K-9 cop from northern Indiana. Small world, eh?

Erik was just great. My mother was impressed that he doesn't shy away from anyone, and when laying down, would always get up, tail wagging, to greet anyone who showed an interest in petting him, and was basically pretty non-plussed at all the goings-on.

I have found a trainer (finally!) that I believe fits into my (and your) philosophy. She's coming to our house, one on one, 3 times a week. She also trains for agility, so we're looking into that. Now that the hot weather and the Brickyard 400 is over, we're going to contact Randy in Warsaw about protection training. It's about 2 hours from Indy, but we feel it would be worth the trip. The person I met at the fair yesterday knows Randy, and said he was very, very good.

Ed,

It has been some time since I let you know how Gromit is doing. Since his puppyhood I have re-evaluated my interests and have decided not to use him as a sport dog. He will be my family's protection/house dog.

After using your "Bite Training Puppies" and "First Steps of Bite Training" by myself, working him in prey only, I found an experienced helper and have been doing weekly sessions of a much more serious nature. Gromit is fearless. He has a great full mouth bite and hits the helper hard. Last week we did an escape where the helper turned on Gromit prior to the bite and tried to chase him back (this is the first time we tried this). Gromit was *not* impressed. He never slowed and got a nice bite on the helper (who made a nice catch). Outing is still a bit of a problem, I think tenacious is the word to describe his attitude toward work.

Gromit is still a very energetic, almost puppylike, dog. Although he reached his second birthday last week I don't think he is fully matured yet. If he is matured I will have my hands full for the next 10 years or so. He is good with my 5 year old daughter and is now becoming willing to accept her commands. Obedience to my commands is good although an occasional challenge to my authority has been known to happen.

Gromit has grown to be a very handsome, medium size dog. Hips have not been x-rayed yet as I was waiting for his 2nd birthday. No abnormalities of any kind have been noted by myself or my vet and he has required only the regular visits.

To sum up... in March I will have had Gromit for two years. He is everything I had hoped for and more. His only limits are those imposed on him by my inexperience at handling such a quality dog. Thanks to your great breeding program and educational tapes I have a great dog and a great friend in Gromit.

Sincerely,
Frederick M. Germain

Just wanted you to know Odi did get his CD in Oct. I was a nervous wreck and it affected his scores, but we survived and it was good for us both. He is going back to Frank's the end of Jan. to get ready for his ScH I. We are going to miss him alot. He alerts when anyone comes to the door and he kept a delivery man in the bark and hold. He has really matured too, he is very serious and intense. Frank found us a female for Amelia to work, her sire is Hanrahan's dog Pirol, and an East German Barenfang dam. She is very nice, Frank thinks she will compliment Odi in drive. We have had some problems in our area with prowlers, an elderly female neighbor had her phone lines cut. We sure feel safe with Odi here. One day the girls were home alone and someone was knocking on the door, Amelia said Odi was standing at the window barking and when she looked out the electric man was running for his truck! Thanks again for the great dog. When Odi comes home from Franks, he and I will work on CDX. People at the shows call him a "real German Shepherd." He got alot of attention, children loved him and he loves the attention.

Ed,

I've had my Faith/Ron pup for about three weeks now. "Max" is everything I hoped for. He is very playful with my 7 yr. old Shepherd/Dobermann mix and not afraid of anything. My neighbors have two 130-150 lb Newfoundlands. It's fun to watch Max chase them around the yard. Using the crate training method, I was able to house train him within 5 days. His appetite is amazing. He eats his entire meal in one "sitting." In fact, he tries to eat my other dog's meal once he is done with his.

Max is such a pleasure to have around. He is a very intelligent, well mannered, loving, beautiful dog. I am looking forward to getting him into personal protection training late next year. Please feel free to use me as a reference for your kennel. Thanks for everything!!!!!

To Ed, Jeri Ann, and everyone at Leerburg,

Just wanted to let you know that I got my Faith/Ron pup and everbody's doing great! He's everything you said he'd be. I'm sure his day was rough but you could't tell it by looking at him. As soon as I let him out of his crate he was checking out everything and everybody and he's TOTALLY unafraid. And he certainly wasn't too tired to play. I was hoping to be impressed, and I am. You have picked me out a beautiful dog I'm extremely happy with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone.

Thank you for everything,
Darren Broeker

I thought I would write you to let you know how our pup is doing. Our Sam is 10 months old, 62 pounds, beautifully coated, excellent set of teeth, and strong as an ox. He has been in obedience and aglity training. He is a lover of strawberries, bananas, pesto and really anything I or my husband may eat. I can't thank you enough for such a wonderful dog. I hope to buy another, in the near future. I was at a friends house yesterday and her son was playing ball with him. Suddenly the ball went over a 6 1/2 foot solid wood fence. My friends son began to climb over and before he could get the second leg up the dog was gone! (Sam), finding himself locked into a solid fence began to search for a way back. I paniced, afraid the home owners would come out and find a very large German Shepard in their yard. Ed, he was so beautiful going so effortlessly over that fence. Thanks again for Sam.
