Puppies from Another Mother

Uploaded on October 12, 2012 • 3 min
Our office assistant, Sharon, recently lost her dog, Chevelle, to a rare brain aneurism. We thought we would share this cool footage of Chevelle nursing a litter of puppies. These puppies are not Chevelle's nor was Chevelle ever pregnant. This is a very rare occurrence and we do not have an explanation for how or why this happened. But we thought in memory of Chevelle we should share it with you.

This is rare, I've been lucky to experience this first hand actually. My red nose pit was in heat when I brought home 2 orphaned kittens. She had a false pregnancy and nursed and lactated for the kittens. She still to this day cleans the cats as if they were her puppies. She is also very protective over them.

To all:

I just wanted to say thank you for all who commented on this video and everyone at Leerburg for being so supportive. Chevelle was an AMAZING dog and I couldn't have asked for better. Even though our time with her was short, I'm glad we got to spend it together. We love and miss you Chevelle...

Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss. It is so true that the death of a pet is like a family member. The pain is so real, but as you remember all the good times, the pain will pass. You are lucky to have such an understanding family around you at this painful time. Chevelle looks to have been a wonderful and trusting friend and friends live on in our hearts.

Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss. We too lost a pet tragically this past weekend. The loss is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with you during this time. Chevelle looks like she was a special girl. Well loved & a joy to have around. With sympathy, Rayetta & John in memory of Dante.

Such a heart warming video. Chevelle looks like a peaceful soul, at peace with herself. You all are truly lucky to have experienced her presence.
