GoughNuts: Manufacturer Gauranteed Dog Toy

2 Minute Video on GoughNut Dog Toys

The GoughNuts toys are one of two toys that we carry that have a 100% durability guarantee from the manufacturer. Dog toys are only as durable as the most destructive dog. However in the case of this toy you can rest easy knowing that if your dog does somehow figure out how to destroy it you can return it to the manufacturer and it will be replaced at no charge. Question: Our dogs bark when we are at work. If we put bark collars on them will they still be able to play together?

Hi Cindy,

My sister and I both have dogs at home that tend to bark when we are at work. We wanted to purchase the collars for both dogs but are concerned that this may limit them from playing with one another since they growl and play bark. Do you have any suggestions? Would keeping it on and off confuse the dogs? Thanks for your assistance.

Cindy's Response:

I don’t put bark collars on dogs that are physically together because if they start playing and vocalize with each other, it will give a correction. Some dogs will also get mad at the other dog, thinking the correction was caused by the proximity of the dog.

If you want to use bark collars on them when you are gone, I’d advise separating the dogs. Dogs have no problem with the collar being taken off and then put back on. They figure it out quickly. We use the Tri-Tronics Bark Limiter.

On the Dogtra iQ Electric Collar

This is an awesome low/med stimulation e-collar. The magnetic on/off feature makes it quick to put it on or take it off your dog. The indicator light lets you know that it is on and the battery life of the device. I never worry whether this collar got turned off somehow during training. The 2 hour rapid charge makes it nice on days that I forget to charge it before heading to class. The size of this collar makes it very effective and transportable. It is not a bulky or heavy receiver so it allows for maximum movement. The transmitter is slim and easy to handle. It is very easy to adjust the level of stimulation. I can go from a high drive level to a normal level in a matter of seconds. With any e-collar it is crucial to use it properly so I highly recommend the Remote Collar Training for Pet Owners DVD.

Andrew's system for training Nosework is both simple and highly effective. It blends concepts from the Military Working Dog Program with the use of a verbal mark, reward based training and cooperative play, to form a very clear and effective communication system that avoids many of the pitfalls of traditional programs. These courses explain how to engage your dog in the game of searching for a target odor and will teach the handler how to motivate, handle, read and reward your dog in order to build a strong working partnership as well as a focused response.
