Educator Pro 900 Expandable Ecollar

Educator Pro 900 Expandable Ecollar

The Pro Educator is the most advanced remote dog trainer ever devised. It boasts brand new, never-before-seen features that offer the most humane experience for dog and owner alike.

This is the first completely customizable e-collar ever to be developed. The collar has 4 main function buttons that can be set to any of the 9 different stimulation modes. You can further customize each of these modes by setting a max level, changing the boost level, adjusting the volume of tone, as well as the type and amount of vibration.

This new ability to customize the features on an e-collar is unique to the Pro Educator. There are 2 ways to customize your collar: first, there is a program button that allows you to cycle each button through all 9 modes. You will have the ability to program the buttons on the fly, or you can use a user-friendly software program that allows you to connect the transmitter to your computer and set it up for your specific needs or training style. The software to customize your collar is free and can be downloaded using the link below. The software is currently only available for PC (sorry, Mac users).

The Pro Educator is expandable to 3 dogs. Additional receivers are sold separately. Directions on how to sync your extra receivers to the transmitter are very simple and can be found in the owner’s manual. Once you have expanded the system into a 2 or 3 dog collar, you will also have the ability to set different types of stim, different max levels, and different boost levels for each dog. The collar can be set up to switch between dogs, or you can simply set up a different button for each dog.

The Pro Educator can also be purchased as a plus model. The plus model comes with 2 receivers programed to the same frequency, and also comes standard with a bungee collar in order to ensure good contact from both receivers.

Leerburg's Online Basic Dog Obedience Course

This course has altered my approach to dog training. I have been a fan of the website and purchased videos in the past but knew when this course was available I had to take it. The most important aspect of balanced dog training I have learned is the power of engagement. Watching the dog stare intent at me wanting to learn as opposed to correcting to get engagement has fundamentally changed the way I approach dog training. By using engagement to impart the commands and work for effort from the dog has diminished the amount of corrections given. This obviously has an impact on the relationship between me and my dogs as well. I have attended courses and researched training methodology from a variety of sources and this is the one that stuck out as "common sense". The methodology and way this type of balanced training is built explains so many questions and also provides an approach where you are not always relying on the leash and collar to training the dog!

Leerburg Q&A
Ask your training question

Question: I've been working on retraining the retrieve for 2 weeks and my dog still chews and pounces on the dumbbell. I have been following the instruction in Training the Retrieve with Michael Ellis. How do I address these issues?

I recently bought Michael's DVD on teaching the retrieve. She's all about retrieving, but she chews on the dumbbell. I switched to the pvc pipe like Michael suggested in the DVD. I've been working with her for two weeks using the pvc pipe and I'm not seeing any change in the chewing. I've tried reinforcing the hold by giving the command again and using my hand under her chin to hold her head up. She still continues to move it around in her mouth. Also, she's a maniac when she runs out to retrieve. Sometimes she overshoots the dumbbell and then pounces on it like it's a toy. How should I address these issues?

Cindy's Response:

It's going to take longer than 2 weeks to fix this. I would NOT be throwing any dumbbells or any other retrieve item until you have resolved the issue of holding calmly. Depending on how long you allowed her to chew and pounce in the past it can take a long time to fix.

You need to break it down and start from scratch and reward a moment of calm holding. If you get ahead of yourself and go back to throwing the dumbbell right now she won't have enough reps of the behavior you are looking for.

On Leerburg's Padded Service Vest

I purchased the Large Padded Service Vest in camo for my 2 year old German Shepherd because I own a paint ball / airsoft field and we were experiencing some younger kids who were afraid of large dogs. When they see my dog with a service vest on it relaxes them because they have seen trained search and rescue dogs or police/military dogs wearing vests and they perceive them as friendly. Next I added the patch that says, "I'm friendly, pet me" and that's all it took. Now she gets all the attention she wants and always has someone ready to throw the tennis ball for her. The vest is very well made, sturdy and holds up to 1000's of passes through a doggie door that is not big enough for this large dog and is scraped constantly with no harm. Side "D" rings come in handy for attaching a bottle opener so adult visitors to the field are always laughing when Kaska comes to the rescue when opening beverages.
