Customer Comment
on the Dominant Dog Collar

I want to thank you for the advice to use a dominant dog collar as a back up with a prong collar. I do use a dominant dog collar as a backup and I also purchased the new prong collar leash.

This past weekend I was walking my 3 year old GSD and the prong collar came off and the back up collar worked like a charm. I hate to think of what could have happened if I wouldn’t have had a back up collar!

I truly appreciate your website!

Question: I use platz during training for down. Which German word should I use at home to lay down by my side?

Hi Cindy,

I train my dog with German commands. I use platz for down in training.

If I am at home and just want to call my dog over to come and lay down by my side, what German words should I use?

It seems platz should only be used in SCH training.

You can use whatever words you want, they don’t need to be German. Informal commands can be whatever makes sense to you and your dog.

I tell my dogs to ‘relax’ as their informal lay down command.
