I just got a new puppy and after a few days and switching to raw, she has started to itch a lot. What do you think this could be? How long do you think I should keep her on this food to see if it is the problem?

I recently got a french bulldog puppy. She was picked up from the airport on Sunday night, she was perfectly healthy and went to the vet the next day, he also said she was perfect. She did not itch or have any skin issues other than a little dander. I fed her the last of her food they sent Monday and Tuesday I started her on raw. She has eaten mainly chicken necks and meat from leg quarter with a little yogurt, just enough to get her to eat her digestive enzymes and probiotics. She has had no issues with stool, all normal firm and no throwing up and acting great, but Wednesday night she itched herself a little. Then last night, Thurday night, she started itching a lot and this morning she is still itchy. I have read from the books from your site this could be detoxing. What do you think? She is 4 and half months old and had chicken in her kibble so I don't think it could be an allergy to chicken. How long do you think I should keep her on this food to see if it is the problem?

She got her last shot and rabies on Saturday, the day before she flew to us. She had her other two sets of puppy shots, but I'm not sure of the exact dates. I have not gotten an email back from her breeder with them. Can she have a reaction 4 days after it was given? I would think it would be sooner. If the itching is from stress should it just get better after a few days?

Thank you, I will do that. Also, I did do a search for the words itching and detox but it didn't show me anything related to what I was looking for so thanks for answering my question. The only shots I do when I get a dog is the one year shot and rabies even though by law were suppose to do it every 3 years. I haven't done so with my older dogs, Boxers, that are now 6 and 7. Both have never been sick or to the vet in their life, except when they got sick from a bag of premium dog food, Natural Balance. That is when I went to raw and never looked back. I am hoping to continue with the good health with my Frenchies and I thank you for your site and all the work you put into it. I have found more good info on your site than all other places online put together!
