Question
Ed advises not to feed dogs sugar, but are blueberries ok?
Answer
Berries are fine, you don't want to give dogs refined sugars. We have wild raspberries on our property and my youngest dog picks them off the bushes when they are ripe.
Most berries are very low in sugar and
are a healthy snack or addition to the diet for our dogs and for us. The only exception would be for a dog actively dealing with cancer as it’s been shown that putting dogs in a temporary state of ketosis can help
their recovery and allows cancer treatments to be more effective. You can ask your vet or search the internet for more info on that. Of course, all things in moderation is usually a good practice to follow when adding
treats of any kind. I hope this helps.
