Product Description

Michael will be coming to Leerburg in September 2-4, 2022!

Back by popular demand! Michael Ellis will be returning to Leerburg for another 3-day workshop. This will be an information-packed, condensed 3-day event that will mirror the curriculum and teaching format of Michael’s classes at his school in Santa Rosa, CA.

This will not be a typical seminar, but an intense compressed learning experience. If you attended our 2019 or 2021 events and wonder about whether there will be new information the answer is YES! There may be a bit of overlap on foundation skills but each event and seminar is driven by you, the participants. Michael’s material is constantly evolving as well so there is always something new to learn. We are planning on more student participation this year, with more time allotted for discussion and Q&A each afternoon.

  • Day 1: The Foundation of Training: Relationship,Learning Theory, Engagement and Communication
  • Day 2: Reducing Rewards “The Missing Middle Steps Between Foundation and a Finished Dog” (for both sport and pet dogs)
  • Day 3: Separation Anxiety & Reactivity

We will need 8-10 dogs & handlers for each of the 3 days to work with Michael on specific skills & problems that will fit the topic being presented. These openings will be filled via a screening/ audition process and will only be offered to participants who are already enrolled in the event. Video submissions will be accepted in August (more info on that coming soon). You must be attending the seminar and have paid the admission fee in order to submit your video. Any videos received on social media or other email outside of the event email will be disregarded.

Registration Closes August 15, 2022

About Michael Ellis

Michael is an internationally renowned dog trainer and teacher with nearly forty years of experience in competitive dog sports and companion dog training.

Michael started his career as an instructor for dog trainers in 1996, when he began giving seminars and clinics to training clubs and organizations around the world. Over the next thirteen years he taught extensively to a very diverse group of professionals and hobbyists, from competitive sport trainers, police departments, and the US military, to search and rescue groups, service dog agencies, and pet dog trainers. During this period Michael taught over three hundred seminars in the US, Canada, and South America, which comprises more than one thousand days of lecture and practical work, not to mention many hours of private training and coaching.

Michael’s clear, concise, and patient style of communicating made him one of the most popular coaches of trainers in the country, and he did much to popularize the use of reward-based techniques in the world of protection sports.
