I find it sad that you find ball, food, tug or sleeve craziness a desired behavior in a dog and think that has everything to do with whether they can work or whether they have a strong desire to work.
Catherine, I suggest either you purchase Ed's tape on Bernhard Flinks or attend one of Bernhard's seminars and perhaps you might understand why people want a particular type of dog. I find it sad when people try to tell other people what type of dog training is right and what is wrong when they obviously have very limited or no experience with that type of dog training. Have a nice day, Dave
Amen Chuck. And by the way I noticed that a bunch of regulars ratings went down last week. Including Ed. I first thought it was a good idea to help the newcommers get an idea of how to deal with comments on this board (personally I could not care less). But when my comments are rated higher than Ed's I might be with Joy and turn it off. What do you guys think of the rating system? Should we keep it or dump it???
In a way I like the rating system, as it can, when used properly, help newcomers to know who might be more knowledgeable and helpful, and who is not. But, on other boards as well as this one, I have found that the reality is that people use it as a form of personal commentary.
As a person with five stars, I don't mind keeping it, but I don't really care. Whatever everyone else wants to do is fine with me, as I don't think the ratings system really means much when it comes to the exchange of information.
Ahhhh, a 5-star rating! You could put that on your resume <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I don't really pay attention to the ratings. If the only folks allowed to rate a poster were folks we knew had some experience, it might take on some meaning. But, not the system as it is right now.
How can Ed's rating go down, he's still in Europe and hasn't posted anything? Let's all hope that he and his friends get home safely. They are to leave tomorrow morning if there are no more bomb threats in Amsterdam.
