It is difficult, if not impossible, to find quality check chains here. Thus, I had little choice but to buy a China made stainless steel chain from a supermarket for my dog *SMH.

I was reluctant at first, but eventually I decided to get a Herm Sprenger Stainless Steel Fur Saver - Short Link. I paid almost as much for postage as the cost of the chain. Furthermore, in my currency the total I paid for this dog collar (incl. postage) is $68.00…

But it was well worth it!

I LOVE the Herm Sprenger Fur Saver Collar.

Unlike the cheap, China made chains, the links and rings on the Herm Sprenger Fur Savers are welded together for extra strength, durability, and security. This gives me confidence and peace of mind to know that my dog is safe from a hardware malfunction, such as the chain suddenly snapping if he was to pull.

Aesthetically, the chain exudes quality. It is an appealing chain... from the engraving on the rings to the design and construction to the fluorescent orange HS brand tag for that gorgeous touch to a quality product.

Spleefy (my dog) and I have put the collar to the test in variety of environments and conditions -- from walking about the town... to the beach, rolling around and digging in the sand and splashing in the surf... and all the way to the remote part of the forest where we often go to hike, get muddy, and take a refreshing dip in the streams or deep pockets of rainwater.

In spite of our, often, rugged adventures together, the Fur Saver collar maintained its integrity, and the links consistently slide through the ring without the frustrating friction that you may get from inferior chains.

Lastly, I like the audibility of the Fur Saver chain. This makes for more effective communication with my dog than tactility alone.

I will upload a photo of Spleefy wearing his awesome Fur Saver Collar from the side view. It was an extravagant buy for a collar, but well worth the investment. I won't put a price on my dog's safety!

I was really liking the look of fur savers, I have a plush shepherd (aka a medium haired shepherd) and I wanted to keep her beautiful neck fur as nice as possible. I had looked all over for an ACTUAL Herm Sprenger to buy, everything either came up as a counterfeit item, was EXTREMELY expensive, or wasn't the right size (I need a 21 or 22 inch). Luckily Leerburg had what I needed and I ordered one and it shipped pretty fast. Geena looks great in it! I absolutely love it. It's thick and has some bulk to it without it being extremely heavy and she definitely feels it, it's harder for her to pull on it when I'm holding her by the collar and she responds well to corrections with it.

A fabulous training collar for my adult Borzoi. There is so much more to training than just the collar, but the right collar is a foundation for training. This 'short link' and 20" long choke-type training collar is perfect for my Borzoi (luxurious long hair coat.) A simple tug at the right moment gets his attention and lets him know that I am in control and will lead him through various situations: 'cat or dog ahead,' or, 'stay by my side when walking.' A priceless tool for training in my case and very happy that such a collar is made and offered. Also, very well made, durable and performs perfectly. I and my dog both love it.

These SS collars are extremely well made. I originally ordered the long link version, but am going to try the short link one instead. The long link version does not readily allow for tightening when required, as each link is about 1" long.

The collar is very attractive and should last a very long time... I do like the look of the copper/tin version, but not sure how durable they are...Perhaps someone will write a review about this one...
