Product Description
Made exclusively for Leerburg in Wisconsin, USA!
The Tracking Harness with Handle is made from genuine Latigo leather. This harness is sewn and pop-riveted with the highest quality stainless steel hardware to ensure maximum security. We know how important it is to have a strong and durable harness that won't fall apart and interfere with your dog's training.
Our tracking harness is designed to fit almost every working dog size. This harness comes with an adjustable girth size from 28" to 38". It's flexible and won't chafe against your dog's skin. Padded shoulder straps will protect your dog along the track. The belly-plate isn't padded for a lighter weight and comfier harness for longer tracks.
This design was inspired by a tracking harness used by the RCMP in Canada. The harness does not restrict airflow of the dog in any way. This is an extremey important feature during long tracks where the dog needs all the help they can get. It's important that you get a harness made specifically for tracking. Any other harness such as an agitation harness is not ideal for tracking as they tend to be built with a padded breastplate that can restrict the airflow for a dog working on S&R tracks.
Likewise, this tracking harness should not be used as an agitation harness for bite work. It is too light for bite work as there is no chestplate to absorb the shock of hitting the end of a long line. This harness was designed to be lightweight with the comfort of a tracking dog in mind. If you need an agitation harness for bite work, we recommend you purchase our 2 Snap Agitation Harness with Handle instead.
What is girth?
Girth is taken from the widest part of the dog's chest behind the forelegs.
Made in the USA
The cow hides used to make all of Leerburg's leather are hand-picked for Leerburg before tanning. We need and use the thickest hides available. Our hides go through over 85 steps in a tanning process that takes over a month. Many types of Latigo leather are made in Mexico, India, or Pakistan, but none can compare to the quality of Leerburg's latigo leather made in North America.
Once tanned, our Leerburg Leather is delivered to the Amish family that crafts our leather products right here in Wisconsin. Our 4 Amish craftsmen have been making Leerburg leather products since 1990.
These 5 Amish craftsmen hand-cut, sew, pop-rivet, and tailor all of our leather products. We have yet to come across another leather product that measures up to our products' quality.
