Reinforcement Schedules with Michael Ellis

Uploaded on March 18, 2019 • 4 min

In this video, Michael Ellis explains how random and variable reinforcement makes the dog more persistent. This means that if you reinforce a behavior the same every time you reward your dog, that behavior will eventually fade away. Giving your dog a variable amount of rewards keeps them interested and engaged.

This video is taken directly out of Michael Ellis's self-study online course, The Power of Training Dogs with Food.

Great -- this is vital stuff. Just want to point out, Michael should be talking about extinguished, not extinct behaviors.
