I am returning to the dog world after seventeen years of raising and training children. Wow, things really look different. I do not recognize the new working bloodlines of the germen shepherd dogs. I would appreciate any knowledgeable input.

Being a little more specific might get you a few more responses <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I have no idea what I would even begin to reply to that post.
Since you have been gone so long, Ringsport is now the only sport dogs are involved in. Unfortunately finding a GSD to do this is a bit harder. We have a Mod Van Camp, who is a huge fan of Ring, and of Belgian Malinois, a breed far superior to the GSD. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> VC, care to enlighten our new person with ring knowledge, as well as informing her of your passion; the Belgian Malinois??? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Horrible advice, but funny.
What I'd do if I were you is do some research, go see some dogsports, find people involved with the training, then find a good breeder or import a titled dog.
Well, it has taken me a few days to digest all the “useless” information that my inquiry generated. However, I am thankful that an intelligent individual decided to email me some very useful information on the working bloodlines of the German Shepherd Dog. One thing that I have noticed that has not changed in the dog world is that everyone is a master and a legend in his or her own mind. Finally, from my experience Ring Sport is for all the “trainers” who could not cut the high performance standards of Schutzhund.
