This product was recommended to me. I did a search on Leerburg and could not find anything about it. Anyone have any experience using it?
My 2-year-old GSD suffers from allergies. He is fed a raw diet supplemented with Omega 3s, vitamin E, and Ester C. Short of prednisone, he has had little relief.
I have a 3-yr-old GSD with similar problems. I keep trying to fine tune her raw diet and supplements, but I guess like you, haven't found the complete solution. Have you tried antihistamines - Benadryl, Hydoxyzine, etc.?
I've heard the radio ad, but didn't pay much attention to it. I've been unable to find any testimonials other than what's on the mfg's own web site. Google did pop up a site where someone had a complaint about the 90-day money back guarantee. That doesn't encourage me too much. According to their site, looks like it'd cost me almost $1.25/day - so you try it out and let me know if it works!
Another site said, "Dinovite is a canine food supplement. It's a recipe of nutrients, proteins, and probiotics that restores critical enzymes to a dog's digestive and immune systems. Those enzymes are always cooked out of every commercial dog food. Without them, any canine immune system weakens and a dog becomes susceptible to any number of miseries."
Well, since we have dogs on a raw diet, don't think there's the same loss of enzymes, etc., that's referred to here. I'm afraid there's no magic bullet, other than pred.
BTW, don't know what you're doing re: Omega 3s and 6s, but I switched to Grizzly Salmon Oil a while back and have boosted her dose up to 4 squirts/day, more than is recommended for a 65# dog, but I think it's made an improvement. Maybe dogs with deficient immune systems need a little more than the label calls for - or maybe the airborne pollens are down. I don't know what to think anymore.
Hi Mike - thanks for the reply. I have tried antihistamines and they seem to have little effect on his scratching.
"According to their site, looks like it'd cost me almost $1.25/day - so you try it out and let me know if it works!"
It is expensive so I was hoping someone else had tried it and would offer their anecdote.
I may have to give Grizzly Salmon Oil a try. It seems I've tried just about everything else. Thanks.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
not that I'm an expert Mike, but have you tried feeding him something completely different? He may have food allergies...just a thought...there's so many types of raw you can do, maybe switching him/her up might find that some or all is attributed to something you're currently feeding...
also, not an expert in this either, but what kind of vaccinations, if any, did your dog get? something else to consider...
