Has anyone out there fed whole whitebait? They are 2-3 inch little fishies found in big bags in the frozen fish section of the supermarket. They are not gutted (too small for that) and for people are usually flash-fried and served as tapas.
Because of their size it looks like there would be no problem feeding some at a meal. Hardly any bones to contend with and they are a whole fish. Even anything up to a small (4-5 inch) fresh or frozen whiting or sardine. It would be a nice supplement to a canned salmon meal.
BTW, about beef knuckle bones....I wish I would have given them to my dog a lot sooner. All that $$$ spent on chew toys that he didn't care squat about and 1 beef knuckle bone kept him outside in the falling snow for 3 hours.
Great, I'll give them a try then.
On a side note...I have had the pleasure of driving for 1/2 hour with my dog in the back of the wagon covered in "eau de rotting carp". MUCH worse then the horse sh*t incident.
I'm sure he'll eat these little ones just fine....now that he's gotten used to BARF. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
those whitebaits sound like the smelts we buy here. I use them as snacks for the dogs and the dogs all go wild for them. I figure they have to be better than dog biscuits - the dogs certainly think so.
