Check that link that Sandy gave you in regards to the kibble choices. My personal experience was with Innova, and my dog did fantastic on it before I went raw. He was on Innova in the am and meat patties at night before I switched, with no ill effects from the mixing.
I didn't eliminate the Innova because I had any bad experiences...I just felt that full raw was even better.
thank you,
actually iprinted the list on Sandy's link and igave it to my food supplyer for he will check for me what is available arround here with no self import.
iwill sure give innova aclose check.
is there any particular kind of food of innova you recomanded?
last year summer field work was very hard on our dogs health mostly iraken couse of the change in the food source.
it is very importent for me to avoid thos side affects this year.
I've had a GSD for almost a couple years that I started on raw when I got her at 1-1/2 yrs. A while back, I introduced Innova EVO (grain-free) in anticipation of not being able to do raw feeding if she were boarded, which I haven't had to do yet after all. But I still give her about 1/3-1/2 cup in the a.m. almost daily anyway - it helps soak up the salmon oil. I've never noticed any issues due to feeding both. It comes in a turkey/chicken and a red meat version.
I decided on the EVO due to allergy/skin problems which would likely be worsened by adding grain to her diet. The general opinion seems to be that feeding both raw and a kibble like this can be o.k. as long it's done at different meals due to the different rates of absorption/digestion. I can't say for sure that it's critical issue, but why combine them if you don't have to.
To make a long story short, I recently had to go from raw to kibble to settle a heated dispute with my vet and I regarding my puppy's bone density and growth.
Anyway, I found Timberwolf dry kibble to be one of the best of what is around in my opinion. I live in Florida and it is made here as well so finding it is pretty easy, I hear that it is hard to find elsewhere. The Wild & Natural Dry formula is 36% Protein (Their Highest) and "Simulates the diet in the wild". They have several others as well.
My puppy had no issues at all going from raw to this kibble, he loves it and I am going to guess that it tastes good. I still think that raw is the BEST, but at least this is a high quality kibble that you can mix with raw if you want to go there.
