Tucker (Border Collie cross)is not as bad as he used to be.
He's alot better with Thunder storms, he can sit through them now without feeling the need to hide. But Fireworks still put him on edge. His safe Zone, the stand up shower stall.
He goes in and lays down, and i make sure the windows shut for his comfort.
He'll tentatively come out and stand at the door way listening...if he hears a firework, back he goes. If it's quiet he comes out.
I had not idea about the age being a factor. Tucker was fine the first few years I had him, one night I was out and the neighbors decided to set of fireworks, I came home to an 80lb dog scrunched up under my teeny-tiny bedside table.
well i put the dogs in the bomb shack today , henry in his crate and hector free to roam .
put the gopro camera on , and after reviewing the footage it appears there were no unusual responses from either of the dogs . it was a little difficult to figure out the time of the detonations compared to the raw footage ( no sound on the camera ) but the only reactions i saw were some startled awakenings from hector . . . nothing from henry .
some pretty funny stuff where hector checks out the camera at close range , and he takes a few runs at the crate , but otherwise a lot of laying around sleeping .
