No, it's about not attaching the words American and German Shepherd together. . .that is a bad combination because it makes us all think about the ASS. (well, at least for me. LOL)
Besides, there may be a number of well bred dogs here, but there are just more in Europe. . .they have all the advantages. Trainers, clubs, distance, working tradition, organizations. . .
Not everything Euro is great, but it is just a fact. There are more good dogs overseas.
It doesn't have anything to do with European and American and it won't change till the homeland here looks a lot more like the fatherland over there.

I like Giant Schnauzers, don't have one anymore, but I still like them. I have one unpapered GSD from the pound and a GSD puppy on the way. 6 more days... I better get some sleep...

hey well being a APBT guy all the way ill have to bring up that you just isnt gonna find a better APBT then the ones we make right here in the good ol US of A. kaka i also hope to see more well bred american bulldogs in the future but it doesnt look likely. and by well bred i mean the 80lb oversized pitbull looking standard/performance/scott type ABs not the classic/johnson type. anyway i think youll be seeing more abs in schH soon enough even if i have to be the one to do it. btw maybe a great APBT is 10x or mabey even 50x as rare as a great gsd, but i say when one comes along, better watch out fellas...

VanCamp It doesn't have anything to do with European and American and it won't change till the homeland here looks a lot more like the fatherland over there. Yep! you are right. The Sports Clubs in Europe are like the Health Clubs in the USA. One in every town and city. You don't have far to go and good trainers are always close by.
Yes, I agree about using the term American in any working line of K-9's.
Kapitan, how many litters has your family bred in the USA with both sides being born here. I wonder how many ED has bred with dogs born here.
The breeders in this country do not give themselves enough credit for the great job all are doing.
Hell you have to register with the AKC how much more American does it get. (what a rip off in my opinion, having to register with the AKC) but what choice do you really have.

I could see size being an issue with some breeds.
But a good GSD can range from 70lbs - 100 plus lbs. My dog can easily knock me down and I'm 6'3 234 lbs, if he jumps up and pushes me in the stomach it feels like a 200 lb man punched me in the stomach. If I wasn't in good shape I'd be sucking wind.
I wasn't going to get into this, but you suckered me in. I like GSD, Dutch Shepards, Mals, Rotties, American bull dogs, Dobbies and Giants in that order.

ive never seen a 100lb+ shepherd of german lines = anyway ur right that would be plenty of dog for the work but wen i think gsd i think 60-70lbs and i also think of seeing people fling them around in the air when they bite. i cant talk from experience though, ive never taken a hit from a gsd.
ug no1 likes APBTs

You think the same fling doesn't happen when a 70lb pit bull (which is big for a PBT) is bitting the shelve, I've slung 110lb Rotties.
But what must be realized is that a hit on the shelve is different then without it some people go into shock, when flesh is torn or ripped off the bone. Or the arm or leg feels like its being crushed. But you certainly don't pull the dog into you and lift like you do when he bitting a shelve. Making him bite harder.
Most people follow the arm or leg any where the dogs take it, trying catch it before it falls off. Most people try to move away or fall when bitten. So 60-70 lb dog is big enough. I like a bigger dog because he can actually bump you to the ground.
