The puppy tug set up for auction this week is very tempting. But my pup will not be trained for anything other than as a companion. Just for my general knowledge, when is it NOT recommended to play tug with a puppy?
I think every dog can tug, if they have even some prey drive.
Check out the Michael Ellis tug video. He does a great job of explaining tugging, there is even a free clip in the video section.
Tug is about reward and play. You can use tug as a reward system like you use food as a reward system. Even companion dogs can be taught to tug and in my opinion should be taught to tug. It's a great way to play with your dog, build a relationship and teach them what to bite and when.
