My cane corso is very clumbsy, not cordinated at all, its humerous except when she bumps my old dog, which she never used to do b/c he would kinda go at her with a bark/snarl thing like hey dummy bugger off....lol...so sometimes I think they are aware and just choose to bump for whatever reason, and sometimes she truly is just big and dumb and goofy, at least in my situation
ps. How big is ur dutch shepherd, I have one who may be mixed with something else(shes a rescue so who really knows)and shes only 55 or 60lbs....your guy looks so big and beautiful!
old age means realizing you will never own all the dogs you wanted to- unknown
He almost took my mom out once running by. Any ideas on that?
We don't allow running in the house. Needless to say, with 2 dogs under 2, and 2 young kids, it does happen sometimes... but the kids are quietly asked to go outside, and the dogs have to go to the crates.
Our issue is different, as he's calm, just a big oaf. (Until asked to work, then he's nimble as a cat!)

Koenig is 80+ lbs (Have not weighed him in a few months, but I'm guess 82-83 right now) He's too big, really, according to the standard, but I love him all the same! Boy, can he hit hard during bitework! Thank you, I think he's beautiful too, and he's also a rescue!

But Kelly, you'll still have to worry about his tail!!!
Tuckers tail is like a large sweeping whip, and beware anything or anyone in it's path!!!
The settle command does work. I use Easy. But when my neices come down i generally just make sure there's not much ruckus. And if there is a ruckus i remove Tucker because although he will go to his bed and stay there. I think it's a teaser for him to be able to watch us playing and having fun, and he has to just lay there and act like an adult, when even I am acting like a kid!!! lol
It's his tail that I can't control and i've lost quite a few drinks due to it.
I'm glad you posted this...I have the same issue with Vader. His tail is as long as his body and it can easily knock my 3 year old down. He is fairly calm inside, but is constantly beside me and like you said...simply turning around is a challenge. He just doesn't realize how big he is!
Maybe I'll just tape his tail to a rear leg, AND give Kylie a hot-shot. Bwahahaah. Totally joking. Only partially on the tail though! Kylie is a sturdy kid- she's over 30lbs, so she can take a pretty good tail smack without any trouble... it's the BUTT that gets her! He's a MOOSE!
