A warm meal, an informative conversation and a helping hand. I don't think there's anything more compassionate we can do for our fellow man.
We're often busy and don't have a lot of time for these situations and you really want to be careful who you're stopping to talk to but so much more can be done than just handing over that dollar.
And you know it's funny, having dealt with these people on a daily basis, the appearance of what we might feel look like the "scarier" folks are often the most pleasant and benefit from the simplest things.
What a great Christmas story!
And your efforts too Katie, what a great resource for folks.
Tanith, that was a great story. Guess it shows that sometimes there is a reward for taking a chance on people when normally you wouldn't. I'm always hesitant, grouchy old cuss that I am, but I can see sometimes it's also good to reach out. Looks like a family and a cold dog benefitted from your good deed. Good on you.

And... it was my birthday... maybe that's why I was in a good mood.
I much prefer dogs to people but if I can see a way to help I will.
Like this morning I got a call - could I pull an ill 16 year old staffie from the pound and look after it for a week? That's why I have this cute little coughing thing on my lap... though what my Mum will say when she gets home... I don't know.

yup he's a cute little old man - very good for his age. He has a nasty chest infection and he's on loads of pills and potions. Luckily it's nothing infectious and they do have a home lined up for him.

Bless his old heart, so pleased he has a home lined up for his twilight years, it's amazing how the old grey beards cope with upheavals in their lives, and thank god people are prepared to take them in, and good on you for helping him with his recovery
