Thanks everyone. My objective of a FD or FDX title can be done in one tournament- an FD is 25 points- one race. By wanting an FD title, basically I just want Toni to race and show what she can do.
I will be discussing everything with the team coach, but I think my mind is made up. I was going to retire her at 9 whether she was racing or not. Realistically, I don't see her racing before that so why waste the time driving there when I can be doing stuff with her and the other dogs here at home.
Toni can race- we did single dog races and her times were under 5 seconds. And she's MUCH faster following a dog because that gets her prey drive kicked in high gear. She's not a start dog, but she's a good anchor.
I think what is pissing me off is that she CAN do it, she's shown that she can, but the focus has always been on getting the new height dogs into tournaments.
And Ian, your right- Toni could care less about all the hoopla- it's the interaction with me that she works for.
I was discussing this with Cindy one day and she joked that with 5 dogs, I already have my own Flyball team
I leave in an hour for practice- we'll see what happens.
