The inside dimension of our current version tube is 10.5 inches long. It is used to transport a rat during training. They are made from human and animal safe "Heavy Duty PetG Pro 3-D filament". Our latest version weighs 726 gram. We say this because Schedule 40 PVC plumbing products are classified as poisonous (this can be confirmed by checking CHAT GPT artificial Intelligence) .

Important - How to Tighten Your End Caps

When screwing the end caps into the tube it is important to only finger tighten the cap. Do not go past that point. To over tighten the cap (past finger tight) will result in needing to use a channel lock on the square knob on the cap to loosen the cap. This same principle applies to rat tube made with PVC Plumbing parts. In fact it happens more on the PVC end-caps because they have more threads and the slightest piece of sand or dirt on the threads cause then to easily lock on and need channel locks.

Our Tubes are made to order. They take approximately 20 hours for our commerical 3-D printers to. make. It could take a couple of days to make and ship if we have too many orders.

Since we started making rat tubes we have gone thru several revisions as we improve our design. The current tubes have thicker solid walls with excellent air flow thru both end-caps.

Both ends have removable end caps, as compare to competition tubes that only have one end cap. In addition when the end caps are threaded into the tube they are flush with the ends of the sidewall of the tub. Our earlier models had a slight lip when the cap was screwed in. This design change eliminates chewing issues on the ends.

There are many many different types and brands of 3D filament. The average person is not aware of this. Many types are too flexible and not strong enough to be used for tubes. In addition they are not safe to be used with animals or humans. We do not use those types of filament. We use Heavy Duty PetG Pro filament which is 100% safe for animals and used in human food containers..

Not only is Heavy Duty PetG Pro filament safe with animals, it is also very strong. Our current models have solid walls that are slighty thicker the Schedule 40 PVC. TOur solid wall tubes can easily support two 200 pound men standing side by side on one tube.

In 2020 Leerburg built our 3D lab, since then we have done a great deal of research on the topic of 3D filament. We have learned a lot about product design and filament since then. That is how we got to the point of using Heavy-duty PETG Pro material

Unfortunately there are people on social media who, for one reason or another (which I will go into later) who are spreading false information about our 3D rat tubes.

Leerburg is not associated with the Barn Hunt Organization ™. In our opinion our current tubes are better than Barn Hunt ™ specifications. We are not endorsed by the Barn Hunt Organization ™

The owner of the Barn Hunt ™ organization does not believe that 3-D printed material can be strong enough to be used to make rat tubes. We respectfully disagree, the fact is she is wrong. She has not done the research. She has not done the research on Heavy Duty PetG filament.
