What are the best treats to use when training heeling? I want a treat that will be light and not fill the dogs.

Full Question:
I bought the 3 DVD set "Heelers Toolbox." I have never been a fan of treat training but I want to try it. My question is, what are the best treats to use when training heeling? I want a treat that will be light and not fill the dogs. What would you recommend?

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
The food that is used for training is very dog dependent. There are a few that I use regularly but keep in mind that you need to use what motivates the dog most and they all have different likes and dislikes.

I prefer something soft and extremely palatable to the dog, so they remain engaged and can swallow the food quickly without breaking momentum of my training session. No crunchy treats that a dog may want to chew.

The meat rolls we sell are a good place to start. Most dogs like them, they are not crumbly and you can slice them to the appropriate size for your dogs. I slice up a whole roll and divide into baggies and freeze them so I always have training treats ready.
