Ok, even though I said I would not post here, suprisingly the previous thread did not turn into a bashfest persay, even though I still see a negative slant, its not as bad as I thought it might be....That being said.......I'll try to better explain things to you....
I realize that you guys have probably seen a bunch of shows of this type that are labeled as HILLBILLY type shows, and that you have a high standard of what people should be doing, which is good...And sure I can see people being pissed off that the first post I made was an advertisement...But that is the mode I am in right now, I have a show to promote and this is one of the ways we promote it, I have posted on about 50 boards already and have had no other negativity, if you don't want to attend the show that is your choice, but I don't regret putting the word out there, trying to promote, that is what we have to do to have a successful "SHOW", is PROMOTE...
Although I don't honestly believe that "concern" is the only issue here, I'll take the bait....
Here is copy of our Promo video for our other format...
PLEASE WATCH IT......

Ok hmm where to start....
Website:
I'll take the blame for NOT having the website updated before promoting the show, even though I have never had a response as bad as the one I got here, I should have been prepared for the eventuality that it would happen, I have plenty of experience on web boards, and how they operate, so I'll take the blame for not being prepared for a barrage, The wesite will be finalized as soon as we close our sponorship and have all our props accumlated.
Here is website for our other show we do PLEASE LOOK AT IT...

Judges:
We have for judges Paul Bilecki, Polly Dake, and Leslie Wooldridge. I am sure you don't know these people, but if you ask anyone in the Chicago area, they will tell you these people are upstanding, competent dog people with extensive experience in many facets of the dog scene, and that they are very fair, we have used them for previous shows and have not had even 1 complaint on the judging.
Decoys:
We use Ringsport, Sch, and PSA certified decoys..We also use experienced Police K9/ and Personal protection agitators...and yes I usually will let an apprentice type decoy or two make their "bones" on a "safe" scenario such as attack from a blind, or novice level On-lead bite senario. We have a national level Sch decoy (steve Beal)who has helped us out and hopefully he is interested in helping again, not sure though..I try to get about 6-7 guys out there to mix it up...Some of the guys we have used are Steve Gossmeyer, Mike Pulford, Steve Beal, Poni Howard, Daniel McElroy, Tim Crawford...etc...Again we may not use world famous guys, you may not have heard of any of these guys but I am sure that people in our region that work dogs know of most of these guys and can vouch for them. And I can assure everyone that the decoys we use are qualified, no dog or decoy has been injured at any of our shows.
Spectator dogs:
Yes we allow spectators to bring thier dogs, and NO, dogs are NOT allowed near the working arena,
YES we have insurance, $1,000,000 coverage, yes we make everyone signs waivers, and make sure they understand we expect them to behave responsibly, no dogs off leash, etc...There have been no fights to date...No bites that occurred off of the field...We do make announcements regularly dring the show to remind people of what we expect...Is there a potential for an incident,,sure,,people can be idiots...But we do everything we can to avoid incidents...Overall our shows are a good place for people to socialize their dogs around alot of people and other dogs...
I am sure that some people are against these types of shows period..
I can respect that, I have been to plenty of them where I noticed poor judging, unsafe scenarios, terrible decoys, dogfights, injuries, and just plain stupidity. We strive to run a safe respectable show that represents a good arena to test a dogs training progress, and create an even playing field for the "average" person to compete in. We are not "elitist" types, our shows have a laid back, friendly atmosphere where people can get together and network with most of the local trainers, vendors, and working dog enthusiasts, and compete for nice awards and prizes if they so choose to. We strive to have a very entertaining show, a positive/good ambience, thet type of show people like to go to, that they won't be bored at, that is fair, and safe to attend....We have local K9 units at the shows for "demonstrations", have requests from prison systems to do demos as well with thier dogs. We try to make sure we are educating the specatators about working dogs in general, and responsibility issues in general. In general, we are trying to expose the working dog scene to more people, to generate interest in proper, responsible training and handling of dogs....
Are we perfect...NO.....
Are we trying to replace organized Sports, NO....
Are we claiming to be the most ultimate event in working dog history...NO...
I personally put a great deal of thought into to the events and scenarios, anyone who comes and enters will surely get a better picture of what thier dogs strengths and weaknesses are, possibly learn things about their dog that they did not know..an issue or two may be exposed while in the arena. EVEN YOU MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR DOG.
Yes I do prompt handlers for scenarios, we do have dog in white as well. I prompt becuase we are still ironing out our format and do not have a "STANDARIZED" version yet that people can study and owrk towards, we ar trying to find out what works and what doesn't work. We also like to make our show accessable to anyone who wants to compete, it is a good place for a person to comptete at for a first time, to "get thier feet wet" in an arena with hundreds of people around watching....
ok enough rambling...That was my attempt to assuage some concerns, and to try to better explain what we are, and what we do. We are show promoters/trainers who like working dogs, we are attempting to improve the quality of our shows every time out. We are not perfect, we learn from every event and try to make changes to better future shows.
You might be against this type of show for various reasons, and may not want to attend and thats fine,I can respect that.. All I can say is that there are plenty of people that are interested in this type of show, there is a defiante niche and we are doing our best to put on a great, fair, show and give out the best prizes and awards we can get with our budget....
I can also say that most competitors, decoys, and spectators at our shows have purchased from leerburg , you might be suprised how many people buy from you that are training for P/P and like to comptete in this type of show....I have recommended your porducts over and over, hunderds of times in fact....in the past, when talking to "NEWBIES" that want to educate themselves on dog training, which is why I was disheartened by the reception i got here..
Hopefully this helped a little...HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE AT THE SHOW...My number is 847-693-0619 if ANYONE would like to discuss concerns with me in greater detail.
Thanks
Joby
