I don't know if this has been posted yet or not, I haven't seen it here yet.
Apparently chicken jerky treats from China are making some dogs sick, some are even dying. While most of us regulars are pretty particular about what we feed our dogs, and anything from China is steered away from, not everyone who reads this forum knows that there may be danger.
The FDA is supposedly investigating, but have not identified any particular treat brand or toxin found in the treats that is making dogs ill. Since no brand names have been released, and there have not been any recalls that I am aware of, it is best to read the labels and if the treats are made in China, stay away from them (a good idea in general, IMHO).
If anyone knows any more about this latest outbreak, please post an update.
Makes me even more glad that we feed raw and all treats we give are made in the US.
Just read this on another forum: It was on Fox news earlier that 70 dogs have died as a result of eating chicken jerky treats made from chicken that has come from China. Kingdom Pets brand from Costco is one of them. Also certain Blue Buffalo brand pet foods have a recall for the same thing. Please re post and make sure all your doggie friends are aware of this!!!!
A bit excessive on the exclamation marks but at least it mentions 2 possible recalls to be aware of.

Edit reason: additional information
Several years back, I posted nearly the same warning in regards to the chicken jerky from China. It definitely bears repeating for sure.
Both my dogs had a serious bout with anorexia due to the Costco, Kingdom Pets brand.
We also had another forum member whose dog got severely ill as well.
I agree that this needs to be sent off to as many people as possible as I see these treats are still being sold at Costco and thanks for the info about the Blue Buffalo brand as well Elaine.

I am also very careful about the treats I give. I avoid all things Chinese and this can be harder than you might think. In some cases, the packaging is not as clear cut as it should be. I have found some that list an American address on the bag but not the country where the product was made. This could lead some to assume that the American address (company office) means that it is American made. And, even manufactured here does not necessarily mean the actual chicken used is from an American source. The Chinese also export a lot of chicken. I look for made from FDA inspected chicken on the package. I think it is easier to just make it myself.
