Bunny is a pup of about 4 1/2 months and her crate is outside most of the time right now because we are finishing my camper (no floor in mine yet) and there is not room for the bigger crate in the other camper. She was fine-getting a few ant bites, mostly from playing outside on the ground. Because it is so hot here I have put water and ice cubes frequently in the crate, which she loves. However just yesterday she has broke out with almost a full body rash.
Her hair is really thin and the scabs are all over but mostly on the back and sides. When she would get ant bites they were on the soft belly skin. I thought maybe they came from putting water in her crate over and over cause they SEEM to get better if I don't put water in her crate.
What can I do to help sooth the itching? I gave her a bath with some hot spot shampoo but not sure it did much. she is itching really bad.

I have mostly just been giving her a bath with flee shampoo every 3-4 weeks. I haven't seen any flees on her but just the same I put a flee strip on her, after another bath with oatmeal shampoo, when I saw the breakout. She is also covered head to toe in Vaseline and sulfur which seems to help with the itching since I don't know what else I could do other than drugs. I will take her to a vet or call my vet if it doesn't improve in a day or two.

"Flea strips" really don't work.
Are you using anything like Frontline or Advantix or Revolution, one of the spot-on products? Is this the little IG type dog?

This is Bunny
I have always used flee strips for all the dogs but most of the time for all the dogs I just have given them baths with flee shampoo. Zuki, Keiko, and Quisquis are all fine.

Without anything else to go on but hunch, this sounds like fleas to me.
Just because the dogs aren't equally infested doesn't mean it couldn't be fleas. They don't attack or affect all dogs equally.

Put your pup on a white counter or sheet. Ruffle her hair, especially around her butt.
If you find any tiny pepper spots on the towel, wet your finger and touch the spot. If it turns pink your dog has fleas.
Pups are "itchier" than grown dogs, and some dogs are "itchier" than others anyhow, have more reactive skin. Red bumps on the stomach are usually ant or gnat bites in my climate.
If you suspect fleas I would counsel you to obtain some modern flea medication, something that kills fleas and their eggs. Nothing else really works. Once you get the flea population knocked back you can revert to shampooing/flea strips/homeopathic medicines.
If you have cats, treat them too if you do discover flea evidence on Bunny. Feral cats are often infested.

"Scabs all over" can also be staph infection of the skin, impetigo, basically acne, and being hot, wet and dirty (a normal pup in a crate with water like you said!) can have that trouble. So maybe that's all it is and better hygiene will clean her up.
But those conditions are not usually itchy --- so fleas are still my first thought.

Elizabeth, do you have a picture you can link us to?
Fleas are my top suspicion, too.
I also agree with the flea strip comment. If you see them on the flea strip, all that means is that yes, you have fleas around, and their favorite place to be is on a dog. They aren't a first line of defense.
As Tracy points out, reaction to fleas is extremely individual. "They don't attack or affect all dogs equally" is 100% correct.

I would do all of what Dr. Betty said:
Put your pup on a white counter or sheet. Ruffle her hair, especially around her butt.
If you find any tiny pepper spots on the towel, wet your finger and touch the spot. If it turns pink your dog has fleas.
Pups are "itchier" than grown dogs, and some dogs are "itchier" than others anyhow, have more reactive skin. Red bumps on the stomach are usually ant or gnat bites in my climate.

If you have cats, treat them too if you do discover flea evidence on Bunny. Feral cats are often infested.
Also, a picture would be good.
Are you seeing scaling (peeling) around these scabs? If you gently lift off peeling skin, does hair come too?
Flea bites can open the door to staph, which could explain the severe itching plus the description of what could be staph.
