I sent that dog packing..she is just like her owner was (and believe me I know her owne!) Stubborn little bugger bit me, scratched me, and tried to act like an entitled brat and spazzed out. I had it with her when she put 3 holes in my finger.
I gave her owner the choice to take her before I sent her packing. Damn thing had barely any turning space in her crate but still managed to crap, refused to potty on the leash unless you jerked it..and the (drum rolling!) Funny part is, is that the owner fessed up after I said I was ready to kill the bugger when she sank her teeth in me instead of the leash I has soaked in bitterapple, as she was a aggressive leash biter. Too bad, was only a week before she showed her true colors, and Jazz decided to end my celebration of the dang thing gone back, with spontaneous diarrhea, to which he was trying to happily eat before I muzzled him..so for me, I get to stay up all night, with freezing rain, and clean up diarrhea when I should be celebrating sending another hand me down dog with issues going back to an owner with issues..someone pour me a mimosa!

Sorry for the spelling, but I am seriously peeved that after I orated the issues I was having with Domino, that she said, oh yea, she does that. I would not have even sent her back, but the owner kept showing up, and just walking in and taking Domino out of wherever she was at. I did, have an unlocked door policy.
Now I guess it's just me and my 303 to go for walks..I will have to stay up til Jim gets up, as Jazz is in the pen, muzzled, and the grizzlies are now out of the dens..I think this week has gone to hell. My new rule..no more 2nd hand dogs..ever. I am done..a puppy will come my way eventually, but I am done with other people's problems.
Now off to nurse the knee that slid down the stairs taking Jazz out, the bite holes in my middle finger, the scratches on my hands..and my memories of dream dogs that just want a bloody head scratch, long walk and a warm place to sleep! Thanks for letting me rant..delete if it is not appropriate for the site..ugh

Well, not too late to start with a Stable Temperament puppy from a Reputable & Responsible breeder sometime in future...

Just remember to get an opposite-gender pup in order to avoid Same-Sex dog aggression.

Personally, when I take in a dog I don't let the previous owner interact with the dog until I have a good bond and rules of the house established. I will give daily updates if they want, but the dog needs to know that I am it's future, and it needs to listen to what I say no matter what. That goes for the dogs that I have taken in from Leerburg as well - Cindy and Ed totally understood that.
Some dogs come with too much baggage to even try to work with - it becomes a chore just taking the dog outside... there is nothing wrong with admitting that it was just too much at this time.
Best of luck in your search for a good dog, Becky. I wish I could help you!
Kel
PS- Where about are you located in the land of the Great White North? Just in case I hear of something...

Churchill, right at the bottom of the Hudson Bay, Kelly . Jazz is a chore now too,we don't even have a chance to clean his poo now, he just eats it right away, hence why I had to stay awake til 9am. He is now out of the house. Jim has thrown the towel in, and I don't blame him The pen is a big one, 8X20", and that is where he will be residing now. Or else I am going to have a breakdown.
Candi I still love em! But Jim said no more dogs until I decide what I am going to do with Jazz. He gets worse with other dogs around. The vet is here next month so I am going to have a long talk with them.

I agree with the owner thing too Kelly, she was popping in uninvited while I was doing my chores. But that is moot now, since she now has to deal with Domino herself!

Becky, I understand your decision fully. It must be a difficult one for a dog lover, but you had no choice. You wouldn't have helped Domino neither Jazz. It is always better to know one's own limits. I have problems to understand the breeder though, but as I don't know him I can't judge. Sorry for Domino but thumbs up for Jazz. I think you're doing a great job, wow!
